This is why I need a minimum of 50 chunks...

Max

But... but... this mansion looks like it can fit in a 3x3 chunk square. I take it there's a whole lot more to it :) (Are some of the chunks for stinky when he builds all sorts of things in your backyard? ;) ) I would love to drop by and go fishing here whenever I need a break from town building, if that's alright.

All this talk about chunks...

so underground then?
Mhm. Thinking of using a dirt block instead of a furnace for the "lock" and a diamond hoe for the "key," but a stick in a furnace provides just the right amount of time for entry and exit. We can expect pistons to work in V6, right? ;)

So do I get Veteran if I'm wanting to play once more or am I just one of the odd ones out...
Yay it's Twisty!! :D :D

The Top 10 of each skill and overall still get to become Vets, I believe.

EDIT:
I only care about one thing - wilderness land.  I need a minimum of 50 (approx 110 x 110) chunks to build my home.  Will my roughly 26k in tokens be enough to buy/obtain the chunks I need?

Thanks,

Max
Foob said we can claim an unlimited number of wildy chunks, but the price (in Noobz?) will probably get steeper as we claim more chunks. So we'll have to use the tokens in the most profitable way possible to expand our territories. I wonder if it's possible to claim 2 or 3 un-connected wildy chunks-- allowing us to mark borders and expand later on.

Server Announcements / Re: Towns, Nations and Outposts

On a slight tangent, will neutral and hostile mobs grinders be allowed?
Not just the spawners available in the server shop (as V5) but also the standard dark room spawners.

I.E.:
Buying wilderness chunks, is there any problem with creating a spawn room for an exp grinder?
Or is there a system to prevent such things (like a lowered spawn cap)?

Same goes for breeding, since I know there was a tight limit when I last played here.
Bumping this matter too. Animal farms are a very useful town facility (as well as mob XP grinders). Will we be relying on naturally-spawned animals and breeding for our ranches, or will monster spawners be available again? If we're going with natural animals, can we name-tag them to keep them from de-spawning?

EDIT: This matter has now been mostly addressed in this thread.

55
Aaa! Yay! With this new information, let the town building discussions (and strategies) continue! :) Thanks, Admins

This may have been addressed before, but how locked in to a location are we with wilderness claims? Is it imperative that you pick a spot to stay at, or could you theoretically relocate, un-claim, and have the old location revert to its natural state?  The answer to that would dictate how serious one should be about scouting a location to start out at.
Bumping this before I make my post. Like, say you find a spot in the wild that you think you might settle on, then you claim it. But after doing some more exploring, you find a better spot and would like to move. What are our options in that scenario? Can we even own two un-connected areas in the wild?

Hokay. Here's what my V6 towny house will most likely look like. The torches serve as plot boundaries.

Idea: Diamond Block Retrieval Course

Find a lava lake in the main world. Carefully place sand in several different spots scattered on the lava lake, and put cacti on them. (Cactus damage may be off but they'll destroy item entities). Carefully place the diamond blocks above the lava lake and cacti. If you have silverfish cobble/stone bricks, put some among the diamond blocks. Enclose the entire lava lake such that there is only one entrance. Rig up a locked dispenser filled with splash potions of slowness, and a pressure plate, such that those who enter will be slowed. Let a person enter the area and collect as many diamond blocks as they can. The only rule is to not use water buckets.

Optional: Make it a parkour course
Optional (2): Add dispensers filled with splash potions of poison scattered throughout the course, or look for a lava lake near a cave spider spawner
Optional (3): Make a mob farm system that lets mobs enter the course as the player tries to finish it.

*inserts another random early noobstown screeny to be safe*

A Noobween pic, not long before we had colored tags. I think this was right when the spawn got changed.
:P This time you have 8 diamonds, AND an enchanted diamond pickaxe. Woah.
I typically carry 2-3 picks, one for precious ores (Unb3Fort3), one for just ordinary path-clearing (Unb3Eff4), and one silky I think.
I must've gotten those diamonds while clay mining. (Friendly tip, clay mining is a good way to raise excav, and some people might buy bricks from you for a good price ;))
Everyone was excited that fire damage was turned off; that must've been why I took the screeny, as proof.

(Also, for those who care to remember, you'll see Darkside7777, founder of the town CraftersRetreat, and our beloved Noobstown grandma for a while, before she quit for reasons that I won't mention)

Idk why but this song makes me so happy :P It will be sung at my wedding.
Ha! There's even guitar tabs for those who wanna learn it, and an acoustic version!

My, my. If we keep this up maybe we should move this thread to the Music section lol.

My question too! I googled "everybody's walkin round my town" and it led me to...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWi6w8lGCpI#

That song is now on my ipod :3 i must find out who sang the tune.
40 Air1 songs and 30 hugs from muddy kids later (yay back-to-school community mudpit)... this song is still in my head! :D That riff, man.

Here's my first accidental Noobstown screeny. I caught San saying "over here slim." And since it's my past self, I can judge what's in his hotbar. Seriously, an enchanted iron pick? And what's with those cacti?

I was dungeon-hunting with stinkinglamb44 of OceanView.

Pfft, such youngin's.  I remember back in the days...before video games when you had use an antenna to receive broadcasts and use a knob on the tele to change the channel.  :O

And also there's ..."outside"

I have a little buddy who collects old consoles like the original PS, the NES and the Sega Genesis. He wasn't even born yet when those came out! (He's only almost 13). We have hope for the gaming community lol.

Oh wait is this "post your very first Noobstown screeny"? Well here...

The first plot I ever bought, and the current site of Fred's Acro Tower.

Server Announcements / Re: Version 6.0 - Full Biome Preview

This however was recorded in the 'Wilderness' world. The Town world is mainly plains with the odd few unique biomes, in order to make building and structuring large scale empires much easier.

Makes sense! You guys have totally thought this through! *salutes*

Why no Feather Falling? Does this reduce Acro XP?

After reading the wiki it sais -

"Currently, a fall with feather fall/protection armor equipped will net the same XP as if you didn't have the armor on, but without suffering the full damage. Because of this, you will also earn no XP for a fall that would have killed you if you didn't have this armor equipped. "

So since you would actually die from this you shouldn't have those fancy shiny shoes.
Mmmwait. Then that means it's only bad if the featherboots saved you from dying (more than 22 blocks high). Even if you survived, you get no XP.

But, say for an 11-block-high fall, it'll give you the same XP but without the damage. To quote the wiki again, this should "net the same XP as if you didn't have the armor on, but without suffering the full damage," making feather boots actually beneficial.

So for a 22-block fall, because it didn't cause you to die, you still get XP, and end up with more than half a heart, allowing you to recover more quickly.

IGN: ummfredfelizco
Age: 26
Timezone: UTC/GMT-6 (Central Standard Time)
Activity: 4-8 hours
Why: To humbly serve the Noobstown community to the best of my capability.
Experience: In my real life work I help young people over online chat with their homework problems. I also lead a local community kids club. In addition to observing Mods do their jobs over the months, I am ready and willing to learn and add to my skillset even as V6 draws near.
EDIT (8/6/13): I started a small private server for the experience. After sorting through different plugins' config files, I now have a greater appreciation of what it's like to be a server admin. Tedious, but fulfilling job. PS. On top of all that, who knew moderating two 12-year-olds can be so intense sometimes!
Other: I offer high flexibility and availability time-wise. When not online, I am able to promptly respond to a forum message, as evidenced by my reaching the "Most [Forum] Time Online" board.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Buying Diamonds in VIP spawn
« on: 10 Jul 2013, 15:34:17 »
I've always thought the point of having Diamond available at VIP is to have them available for VIPs even at times when the overall Diamond supply is low. It wasn't meant to be a normal-price buy during times when there is Diamond in the market. Because if so, it's like we'd have infinite Diamonds, and mining them would be pointless.

And having the opportunity to sell Wheat and Seeds at VIP for more money than normal kinda makes up for it too.

Dun dun dunnn...  :O It may be wise not to divulge the details here; instead message an Admin explaining how you managed to end up inside this certain sakura-tree area.

Ohh, and if you have a silky tool, there's a mycelium biome just north of your wildy ocean island build, and there's another one waaay southeast across the ocean.

Ok thank you very much, i love the name tortuga its in spanish turtle jejeje
la tortuga. :D You should meet our town assistants sombrerodude and ProtocolAlpha, I think they hablan Español. Plots are free, taxes are cheap (around 10 nbz every 24 hrs), and make sure to read the rules at the /town spawn. The shop right next to our spawn offers a wide variety of cheap goods, thanks to Tek. Welcome aboard!

Ok, I tested out the spawner taming... It doesn't give you xp. So, the only way to get it from simply taming is finding wild wolves.
Copy that. Thanks for the testing!
