I agree with the idea.
Also, when Max said that you "can't compare yourself to yourself or you will never be the best" he was perfectly right. I don't see what Foob or Water was saying when they said "you can't compare Noobscraft to other servers because that would be like comparing Noobscraft to MineApoc". That is actually quite far off in my opinion because MineApoc and Noobscraft are two completely different types of servers. Max is comparing this server with another towny+ MCmmo server.
That's just my two cents on the matter.
I thank you for conveying your opinion, and as I mentioned your opinions are certainly valued and taken into account, but if I may just pick up on a point you mentioned about comparing servers; what I meant by the quote 'You can't compare Noobscraft to other servers...' I didn't mean it is impossible to compare servers, it is certainly not impossible, just unfeasible; you could make the comparison that economies on other servers are different to Noobscraft's, but like I've mentioned before, we use custom plugins, namely the Auction in this case; which gives players more flexibility to chose prices rather than a linear price for everyone. Although, I agree with the comment that Noobscraft and Apoc are both completely different types of servers, and maybe it was a poor example, but I was speaking metaphorically, or rather typing metaphorically Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that the Noobstown experience is somewhat unique, therefore any comparison wouldn't really be beneficial to us, I hope this reply provides at least a bit of clarity -Waterworth

If your only basis for judging success or failure is to only compare yourself to yourself, you will never be the best. Maybe I worded that incorrectly, I think it would be futile to compare ourselves to another server because we are different to other servers, it would be like comparing Noobscraft to MinecraftApocalypse, it serves no purpose. Whilst I understand your point, I must say, we haven't ever planned to be the number one server, we just strive to create a great survival experience that players can enjoy, that's all we ever wanted when we decided to make a server/community. If you only see my posts as a systematic effort to mention other servers, then this will be my last post.
I think what I said was misconstrued, I said it 'seems' that there is a systematic pattern, anyone could have deduced that from looking at your 'Posts'; I'm not suggesting in anyway, or hope that I have not implied that you are here to advertise a server, because I'm sure you probably aren't.

Obviously, I have hit a nerve. Very infrequently do I mention other servers in my posts (and never by name). When I do it is mostly as a point of reference or details of my experiences. If you believe I continuously return to your forums "just to mention other places", you are sorely mistaken.
My apologies for being fastidious, but from the log of your posts; you have mentioned this other server in the last five posts and even though you have made 301 posts at this time, it seems like there is a systematic pattern in mentioning other servers. Personally, I don't think we need a comparison to another server, firstly because we have custom, unique plugins, thus Noobscraft is going to be inevitably different to any other server, even though we may use some common plugins. Being able to fly is not necessary for their roles, but it does help them quicken up the pace of the situation they are dealing with. Moderators are players who are helping the server for free, we don't like to see moderators spending their time walking up and down huge buildings to investigate griefs, to check an area or to deal with any situation in general. The idea is they go and do what they need to and return to what they WANT to do, in the quickest time possible. That's only fair. It's like asking why do we need a car? We can still get to the same place by walking, but it's x10 times quicker. Also, as Fatnoob rightly mentioned, flying isn't necessary for the role of Moderator, but it makes it profoundly easier, I can tell you personally, it would be a very laborious process to fix a large scale grief without flying. Again, as Foob mentioned, Moderators don't get any form of payment whether its real currency or items, it is all voluntary; therefore would should be a little lenient with our greatly appreciated Moderators. In spite of the above, I would like to thank you for making a discussion about mcmmo, because it's nice to hear people's opinions on the system and whether they like it or not etc. I think it is an important thing to hear player opinions, because we can make the server a much better experience. -Waterworth

Hi, If you want to make a poll exclusively for MineApoc, you should post it at http://www.minecraftapocalypse.com this forum is solely for Noobscraft. Also, if you want to make a random poll you might want to post it in 'Other'. -Waterworth

Hi,
Like the other members above have posted, it is a excellent idea and something I do support. Especially with technology today, bullying is more common and is harder to tackle because people can bully anonymously, but nevertheless raising awareness of bullying can help put a stop to it, especially as cyber-bullying is still quite underestimated, in comparison to real life bullying.
As GG mentioned mental health issues such as depression can stem from bullying, both psychological and physical. We have a strict anti-bullying policy at Noobscraft and I always encourage anyone who is being bullied to speak with someone whether it is friends, parents, teachers or even anti-bullying support websites etc - I also encourage anyone who thinks they are being bullied at Noobscraft to speak to a staff member, whether it be myself or a Moderator/prefect. I also agree with Halcyon that it is great to see we have caring people in the Noobscraft community, and am proud that a small group of about 7 players has developed into what it is today.
As I mentioned before, I support this idea fully.

This topic is getting out of hand, I'll post a quote below from Fatnoob regarding 1.6.4-1.7.1 1.7.2 may possibly break everything, meaning if you were to protect or build anything in 1.6.4 it could be potentially lost when we move to 1.7.2, this is due to the way block and item data saving is changing in 1.7.2. This would be a terrible start to the version and would just create more arguments and anger in the community, we are going to wait it out and ensure the release is smooth. We'll be posting an update article to explain this within the next day or so, so please be patient for that.
There may be possible ways we can start on 1.6.4, but that would be a last resort and not very ideal or completely reliable. This method would mean creating conversion plugins to convert the data, which would be incredibly time consuming and a waste of time if 1.7.2 is around the corner. We'll discuss this in the article soon as I mention above. We will be making a post that will give you more information regarding v6 very soon. As always, thanks for supporting us and being patient during this transitional time. -Waterworth

Hi,
I just want to let you know that if any parts of this 'family' includes role-play, could you please keep it to the Local chat, /tell or /party when you are online, some users can get annoyed by roleplaying in the global channel and it can sometimes cause spam.
Many thanks -Waterworth

Hi, I think its a great idea to share redstone ideas and give other players a chance to learn cool redstone circuitry, but I do have a problem with this; If you also would like you can post about exploit and redstone glitches Talking about and attempting to use glitches or exploits is against the rules, I've added a quote below of the cheating and exploiting rule. Cheating & Exploiting Do not attempt to exploit in-game mechanics to gain an advantage over other players, this is unfair and your account will be suspended. If you find an exploit, you should report it to staff immediately in a private message in-game or on the forum. Could you please remove that part of the post or remove the topic. Thanks -Waterworth

To clarify to the players asking - YES, the menus will be similar to those on MineApoc. Hope this helps -Waterworth

I've locked this topic to stop any further arguments / disrespect. This topic is breaking the rule of respect and profanity as it is discusses matters that aren't appropriate for young people and children. Respect & Profanity When you’re on a Noobscraft server you are expected to behave in an appropriate and family friendly manner. Profanity is strictly prohibited, we have a language filter to block certain words to keep the chat family friendly, you should not attempt to bypass this filter otherwise you risk your account being suspended. We want our players to be in a safe and fun environment, any inappropriate references/innuendos will not be tolerated as it creates an inappropriate environment for smaller children and players who may be with their parents. Please also note, that for Moderation purposes we ask you to speak only English in the global channel. This topic isn't appropriate for a friendly friendly forum, therefore it is going to be locked and the video links removed, please make sure in the future your posts are appropriate for this forum and are relevant. Also I would rather you report a topic if its inappropriate Miner and any other players that have commented something similar, rather than making a comment stating it is against the rules, because evidently it causes arguments and flaming as it has done here. Many thanks -Waterworth

Advertisement & Spam Noobscraft is not responsible for any links sent, however we do try minimise the amount of links in our chat because some links could be inappropriate for children playing on Noobstown. Sending an IP in the chat is not allowed and your account will be suspended or banned for it. We also like to reduce the amount of spam in chat because it can annoy other players and ruin their experience, therefore we ask our users not to spam. You are not permitted to use any Noobscraft services to make money and you are not allowed to use our services for commercial gain. Topic has been locked and the link above has been removed due to it breaking the rule above.

Adrian,
I have to agree with Reigando on this one. As to certain conversations being "squashed" by moderation, there certainly hasn't been equal treatment or consideration. Although it was the exception, certain moderators often were rude to and harassed people/guests and "squashed" perfectly legitimate conversations, while at the same time bashing people's country of citizenship or disability. As if anyone has a choice where they were born or what physical limitations they have.
If you want to make certain topics off limits, I suggest there be a defined list as part of the rules and not left up to moderation for determination in game.
Max
Hi Max, Moderators will challenge any conversations that are controversial or inappropriate, for example conversations about religion, war etc will be stopped as everyone has their own opinions, which are different and can cause arguments, which can escalate to rule breaking. We try to stop these conversations to prevent a player from breaking the rules, we do understand and take into account that we have adults playing here at Noobstown, but we are a family oriented server and all chat channels are moderated as such, so we can maintain as I've mentioned before a friendly, fun and more importantly safe environment for all players. In response to your comment regarding Moderators making rude comments and harassing players, I would encourage you, and any other players to report any behaviour like you mentioned, directly to me and I can deal with that, as that is a serious issue. On a last point, there are so many different situations that topics could be mentioned, some could be offensive and some might not be, it would be impossible for me to list every scenario of an inappropriate topic and how it could be offensive to some players. Also, most topics are controversial because of the varying opinions in the community, and I don't want to make the rules so strict that people aren't allowed an opinion because that's just unfair. Hope this helps -Waterworth

In response to your post; I am having trouble understanding how you define 'mature players', if you are defining mature players as players that are adults I think you will need to seriously revise your post because you seem to be indirectly discriminating on the basis of a players age which is unacceptable. Furthermore I'm not sure how you would moderate the players joining your nation - If they are mature or not? There has been several topics in the past about a mature player area in the past and they have been dismissed as unjust because they go against the server rules. Whether or not you create this environment our safety measures will still be put in place such as the filters that Adrian mentioned, so you will not be able to use any expletives in the chat. If I have got this wrong, and this chat is to speak about issues that may be controversial and may cause arguments in the global channels, I would encourage you to speak in a private chat, however you must understand that even though you aren't speaking in the global channel, if you break any rules your account will be possibly suspended, jail or even banned. On a final point I would like to mention that we want to create a friendly, fun and more importantly safe environment for all players at Noobstown regardless of their age, gender and so on, this is why we have the safety measures such as the filters and Moderator/Prefects. If the above points that I have mentioned are wrong, I think you seriously need to add and give some more clarification on how you measure maturity and the topics that you may be speaking about in this town/nation. Apart from this, I think it is a good idea to set up a small community to trade and set up events for.ThanksWaterworth__________________________________________________________________________ The topic I mentioned earlier about a similar situation like this - A "Mature Gamer" Zone?

So does that just mean Minecraft IP''s Can't be sent or links to websites at all can't be sent?
Anything related to the promotion of any minecraft servers is not allowed, you can link mainstream websites like youtube and google etc.

You say that you can't remove anything with out the owners permission...I assume that includes the staff permission also? Staff will not remove your items unless they have permission from you, UNLESS they have to remove chests or furnace protection, for example if a plot that has been cleared that has locked items in it. You mean in towns when someone is being kicked out of the town or removed from the town for inactivity per town rules? For when you need to get rid of their items and such? Town owners HAVE to give a player 48 hours before they clear a players plot, otherwise it is griefing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Good rules. I assume the rules apply equally not only to members and guests, but also to moderators and prefects.
If so, will there be a separate mechanism to report a moderator or prefect that abuses the rules, or will the same "report user" be used for them too? Prefects and Moderators are not exempt from the rules, they never have been. You can use the same system as you would to a player, however you can also send me a direct message if you don't feel comfortable making an official report - I answer every message I am sent and I would encourage you to send me messages if you have any concerns.

Hi all, I'm going to try answer all of your questions in one post, so I apologise if this is a bit messy, please send me another message if you would like some more clarification on a rule! One thing I wanted clarification on was the IP sending thing. The rule only says "in chat". Does this apply only to Global chat, or does it apply to local, party, PM, etc? I know this was a confusing thing in the last version to deal with so I just wanted further clarification in the rules itself so it's clear-cut whether it's not allowed period or just in certain things. It applies to all chat channels, no IP's should be sent because they can be unsafe and cause issues with your account if you visit certain IP's. IP's sent in the global channel will be dealt with more strictly than those in private messages, simply because it affects more people in the global channel. The punishments are still the same but players that come online and spam advertise in the global channel can be jailed or suspended for longer amounts of time because they are breaking several rules. Also, what exactly counts as an exploit? I know one thing people were wanting to do was to summon a dog at one end of a place and have it sit, then go a certain distance of blocks away and summon another one. It's kind of going against the plugin only wanting you to have one dog at a time. Would that be considered exploiting or is it just smart use of the plugin to have more dogs at once instead of having to go tame tons of them from a farm or such? An exploit is something that give you an advantage over other players, such as 'clever use of game mechanics', obviously the punishments will be different depending on the severity of the exploit. Essentially using someone you shouldn't to your advantage for example the old piston exploits. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the advertising, what about if we are directing players to the website or to Mineapoc? Would we still be banned? You won't be banned for sending a link to MineApoc because its a server that we own, and we know its a safe link.

I am Water, therefore I can give you some information on this The old moderator applications are just for my reference, for example if I want to see if a person has made an application to be a Moderator before, for whatever reason. As Magic said, you will have to reapply using the new application if you want to be a prefect, however any old applications can contribute to your chances of becoming a prefect. I have picked four prefects so far, and maybe 3-4 more in the future depending on how many people are promoted to Moderator. I am hoping to have a staff team with about 8-10 Moderators and 3-4 prefects, this will make it easier on the staff because there is more people to provide support and help moderate the chat etc, and if a Moderator needs to take some time off for whatever reason, a prefect could step in and cover the Moderator's timezone. I will be updating you guys on the prefect thread with the timezones that are un-staffed or under-staffed, don't worry If you have any other questions feel free to personal message meHope this helped! -Waterworth

Hello!
This is the new application that will be used for players that want to apply for Chatmod.
What is a Chatmod? You may have heard the term 'Chatmod' thrown around in the past couple of months, but not quite entirely sure what it is. In the most basic description, a Chatmod is a 'sub-moderator' and mainly has duties of monitoring the ingame chat and helping out players with an issues they might have. The Chatmod only has very basic duties, therefore only has very basic Moderation permissions - You will have access to jail and kick a player from the game.
You can no longer apply to be a Moderator, every person has to go through the process of Chatmod -> Moderator. The only way to become a Moderator is to be promoted from a Chatmod to a Moderator. If you become a Chatmod and show a respectful, helpful and enthusiastic attitude, you will almost certainly be promoted to a Moderator.
The Application When applying for the role of 'Chatmod' you must follow the below layout. The application is very simple and easy to fill out;
Username: Age: Timezone: Why do you want to be a Chatmod?:
This is the first stage to applying for Chatmod, your application will be reviewed by myself and you will be contacted in-game if I feel that you would make a good Chatmod. You must bear in mind that even though this application is simple, your in-game behaviour will be monitored by the staff, myself and other Chatmod. The best way to show you are eager to become a Chatmod is to help out players in-game and keep a respectful and friendly attitude, it will pay off in the end!
If you have any questions regarding your Chatmod application, don't hesitate to send me a message, however make sure you don't ask regularly about the status of your application, because generally I have a lot of applications to read and review and may not have time to update you.
Best of luck to all applicants!
-Waterworth
Remember: It's not all about applications, it's about applying yourself in-game and showing to us that you are capable of fulfilling this role through both helping and nurturing new and existing users of Noobstown. - Foob
