Spawner have been modified as of June 12th to stop people Mob farming (Cheating) and causing mass lag on the server. Recently I have been monitoring the server, it seems quite a lot of people have been going AFK for hours on end until they have around 50-200 Mobs in their spawner. This causes huge lag in the area and reduces your FPS to around seven.

The changes:

Everyone is limited to five spawns at a time, once those five are killed another five will spawn. This will happen continuously, meaning you will always have five mobs to farm at a time. We hope that you enjoy the changes as it should make the server less laggy and mobs more spread out around the world evenly.

Sounds fair ;) I know of/see a lot of members going AFK for hours..

I thought the problem of people going AFK for hours was solved by auto kicking people after being AFK for 30 minutes. :L

People used mods to auto re-connect them, wasn't working. This will!

Not when there's people like yourself that make sure you come out of the AFK mode before 30 minutes, just to go straight back in to it.

I would be disappointed if in 1.3 it takes like 3 minutes to get to level 30 lol

I don't do mob grinding. It's pointless. So don't go saying that I go AFK and come back just before 30 minutes. :L

I didn't say you done any mob* grinding.. I said that you pretty much go AFK, but come back just before you get kicked.

I have done some testing about this when it comes to getting xp from coal and diamond :)

If you mine in around 30 - 35mins depends on your luck of finding the ores you will get to level 30 so yeah it will go stupid fast to get xp now at least with Silk Pick :3

Also I love this idea not just that people cant "Camp" the spawners but it is always mobs in our town spawner :) But I still miss adding hostile mob spawners to be created with eggs :(

 This causes huge lag in the area and reduces your FPS to around seven.

I guess mine just stays at normal then eh? (I estimate around 5-10 FPS with no rain and standing AFK)

On a side note, you have fixed my testificate issue.  Seeing as they don't despawn I had about 50-100 at any given time that I had to constantly kill off.  Now that number shall dwindle and there will be less chaotic lag in my town.  Thank you Team Foob!

Personally i think 5 is way to small of a number like mabie 20 cause trying to get to level 50 at 5 at a time think about how long that would take also with dragons no longer being spawned so basically getting xp is a full time job to get any at a real level. :(

We have done this ahead of 1.3 as gaining experience will be much easier. The max enchant is 30 levels after 1.3

Like people have said, you can get xp from mining ores and such. At least that's what I remember hearing about. It's kind of cool, but at the same time... eh. I liked having level 50 as max and having the level 5 enchants.

It's nice they're adding something like that, but.... I don't want to lose level 5. :L

In the snapshot (I've been playing cause i can't log on) i mined for 10 minutes and found around 50 coal ore and got to lvl 20, so i think we don't really need mob grinders anymore.

Well before lasts week snapshot the leveling was linear meaning it was the same amount of XP per level, which also makes it much much faster, and in that snapshot it took 1/9th of the XP needed to get to the max (30) than it does to get to 50 now.  Last week's snapshot however re-added exponential growth to the leveling which will add more time but it still will be much faster.

In the essentials config there is an option where if they go AFK, they dont pick stuff up. Also, this has just ruined my pig trap. 30k lost :(

Felt like posting this here since it is about monsters spawning and could relate to monster spawners.

I noticed that squids don't really spawn all that much. Tidal can attest to this, she went searching for a while and couldn't find any. This really decreases normal people getting ink sacks, which a lot of people want.

I was curious if there could be a decision on whether or not Squids could be added as being able to change mob spawners to them? It would help this problem that I've noticed for a while now.

I don't understand why the normal spawners that you find out in the wild are working because the one's that you place don't work, this is really frustrating for me because I just made a massive animal farm that has all animal types and none of them work! lol. Can someone tell me what's going on here?
