We're back up again now.

Seems to be quite a bit of connectivity issues that are beyond our control, we will keep you up to date and as informed as possible. 

UPDATE 11:19pm CST -  Things seem to be more stable now.  You should be able to connect and play as normal.

Just to keep you updated, we are aware it is still down and are looking into the issue now. It will hopefully be back up soon.

yea kinda sux   was in middle of some sales and it crashed briefly   got back on then crashed hard

Latest update: We're aware that you will be currently unable to connect to the server. This is being caused by what we believe to be an uxexpected Mojang change. As we find out more we will keep you updated.

I have updated the original post accordingly.

Uhhhh. minecraft is up on my home computer i hit refresh and now it wont connect.

I am breaking electronics today. I froze my computer 2 times at work, messed up netflix and now messed up the connection to the server. Keep me away from electronics for the rest of the day, better yet the rest of the week.

So is Not being able to chat, is part of the problem? Also Can i still build things in the wild chunks cuz it says im not allowed in that area.  :(

This sounds like a permissions issue, it is likely that you just need to reconnect/the next time you connect it should be sorted.
