Server hack? (Read 15186 times)

I believe someone has hacked our server and deleted the world. This has followed by many crashes and restarts and I am getting extremely annoyed at minecraft. I don't know what the future of Noobstown will be at the moment. Sorry all

This aint good..... If the server was hacked, do you have ANY suspicions who might it be?

PS. I will always stay, but the idea of building Entrolla and getting my stuff back is terryfying.

I don't want to know how long will it take to get back 6 stacks of iron and over a stack od diamond.

No idea, not sure what to do at the moment going to try look more into it. If we have to create a new world the server will take a complete change, the layout and plugin's.

You're the one who's hosting the server, right?I'm sure you can check the server settings and see what happened to it.

I have, some plugin's have caused server issues before but never deleted the world someone has got onto the server and deleted the world folder.

Can you somehow see who accessed the server at that time?

How much control do you have over the actual server machine? Because you could run a testdisk to retrieve a deleted file from its HDD.

Also, I'll be staying regardless of outcome. I like the direction the server's going

I'll stay as long as I have something to play on relatively soon, whether it be a completely new world or the old one. Who knows, this might even clear out a few of the less mature members

Hmm... that's a good idea, if the server has some kind of 'bin', so the file might be removed, but not deleted. Also, is there no safety copy of the files?

If we do make a new server it will be 90% PvP/Clan based. The town plugin will be most likely be removed, and replaced with the Fractions plugin that makes protected areas around your guild/town.

If you are going to make a new server, how long is it roughly going to take? 2 weeks, 3 weeks?

Even if it got forrealz deleted, it's still in the HD, just not indexed. That's what testdisk is for.
Although if that server is doing anything else at the moment it has the chance of overwriting where the file was. There's a very small chance of that, since world data files are not that big

May I say something about the current situation?

If you have to make a new world, do so.
If you have to make a rollback, do so.

But: people have achieved stuff here, people would lose a lot. Remember that and replace their stuff... please.

In addition, we're all happy about new funny, cool, useful plugins... But due to the lags caused by 1.6.6, we should maybe stay with stuff like towny, shop and some other basic stuff until the problems are fixed.

Is the server down for maintence right now? A suggestion to Fatnoob every other day or so send the most recent world file to lon cat or water worth so there will be a backup just in case. just saw fatnoobs post and i would love the tribe thing it would be cool to start a new server. (there was no sarcasim in this) just read tybers post and i think everbody should be on at oce to get a few factions to start then have the ppl in charge of each faction stay on for a day or two to start building.

Town causes most problems on the server and by moving to a new pvp server would be very basic.

couple of hours but I need to be fully backed and committed to start a new server I am trying to contact a guy that helps work the servers machine.

If I was going to open the new server today it would help me tones if you guys started posting suggestions for the new server in the suggestions thread post plugin' everything you want the new server to be.

Glad someone likes the idea, but, this is a huge change from the current server I know 70% of the current players will leave.
