Server Upgrade (Friday 22nd June)
« on: 19 Jun 2012, 16:50:41 »
UPGRADE COMPLETE AT 10AM BST

Noobstown will be taken down on Friday the 22nd June, when we upgrade the server CPU. This upgrade will hopefully allow more people to play with less lag and speed up the overall experience of Noobstown. We are also updating our Network line to a Gigabit, this line transmits Ethernet frames at a rate of a gigabit per second (1,000,000,000 bits per second). Thanks again for all your support, without the donations this wouldn't be possible.

Also a big thank you to our sponsor Global7 for their hard work and dedication over Noobstown 1 year+ running time, these upgrades wouldn't be possible without them either.

Day: Friday 22nd June
Downtime: Estimated 2hours or so
Time: Unknown, whenever its ready on the day.

Summer holidays are approaching!

Dunno if anyone else noticed this, but when lawrence hit a mob, it said +2XP then it said Serrated Strike!, so from me guessing, this was either video editing or we have made a new pluggin that allows said entities to appear on the screen, and if this is a pluggin that lawrence has developed, i cannot wait for it :D but if it was just some editing in the video then :( but still i cannot wait for the next update to the server :D and playing another winter on my spectacular(!) computer from 2005 XD

I guess it is video editting due to a client side modification required.

This is a Ivy Bridge E3 1270 v2 3.90Ghz our plugins and setup cause most of the lag, nothing can be done about it.

I rarely post on this forum but for some reason I had to due to this post. First of all the i5s are desktop chips along with the i3. Yes MC does like higher clock speeds then more threads/cores but other things do factor in as well. The NoobsCraft server runs tons of plugins and has very large maps. Even if the server was loaded to an i3 or even an i5, it would be crushed as an i5 was used around four or so months ago but was switched to an E3 as they are over all more efficient and more robust. The highest-end i5 which is an i5-3570K benches around 7,733 while the E3-1230v2 benches at 10,005. Now the CPU going in tomorrow is an E3-1270v2, so I expect it to be higher then the E3-1230v2. I could not find a benchmark for the 1270v2 otherwise I would post that.

Get your facts straight before posting.

Will The Temporary Server Be Up While The Main Server Is Down? :)
