Authentication Servers

this isn't so much a noobstown question as it is a MC question.

In the evenings around 19:00 Pacific time, when I try to connect to any server I get a message saying that the Authentication Servers are down for maintenance.  I get past the launcher no problem, its when I try to connect to a server that I get this message.

Does anyone know how long this maintenance is for? or where I can read about it.  I have searched the MC forums and of course Google, but no dice.

IMO its a little frustrating that this happens every single night.

It's a problem with Mojang's Auth servers, just try again.
There's been more people reporting this since January.

If it always happen at the same hours, it could very well be caused by high traffic on their servers (19:00-21:00 Pacific Time sounds like a peak of congestion) , making stability problems worse.
