Brewing Using Too Many Items?

So I've noticed that when I'm using my brewing stands they'll use up 3 items instead of just 1 when I make three potions like normal. So if I have 64 sugar in the stand and put in 3 potions as normal I'll have 61 leftover afterwards.

That in itself doesn't bother me, I've built a sugar farm that I'll have more than enough for the brewing itself. What does concern me is that Tidal was testing it just now as well and she doesn't have this problem. She'll put in 64 sugar into the stand for 3 potions and will have 63 leftover, the brewing stand only using 1 item to make the three potions.

I'm confused if this is something inherent into the Alchemy skill as you gain levels (Which I checked and I didn't see anything in /alchemy mentioning this), but even so Tidal claimed that it never happened to her at all. So I'm just wondering if this is some kind of bug that it's affecting me and not someone else.

Were you putting the ingredient first before putting the bottles? I normally put bottles first, but I was able to replicate the 3x ingredient bug when I put multiple ingredients first, and then putting the Awkward Potions in. The brewing animation looked kinda spazzy while doing its work.

Technical blah: I think the plugin is forcing the brewing process to activate each time it is available. The act of putting even just one bottle, with the ingredients already there in the stand, counts as "brewing process available" and thus consumes the ingredient. As more bottles are added, the plugin recognizes these separately and starts brewing a second and a third process--- three brewing thingies in the same stand. This also explains the spazziness of the animation. Or at least that's what I think is going on :/

I do put the ingredients in first, that way it's far easier to simply switch out the bottles between netherwart/sugar/redstone brewing stands to make a faster process than simply putting the sugar in all the time.

You may be right about that because Tidal tells me that she puts her ingredients in after the bottles, which would go along with the theory that you have there.

If you put in the ingredients first then this is likely to occur yes. As you put in each bottle it is going to take one of the ingredients to brew it in the newly added bottle; even if you put them all in very quickly it's still going to do this because as it notices an empty bottle it's going to try and brew with it.
