Items and Death glitch

I will try to make this short as I can...

I was mining and died in lava.
All items are returned to you because you died in fire.
It always worked in the past.
This time something glitched and I lost everything including the best enchanted diamond pick I ever had..

I did helpop like I should and I got Myrf and he was very nice actually but told me he couldnt do anything to fix my issue.

Now, I take some responsibility for dying..thats clearly my fault, but a glitch did occur that wasn't my fault.  I asked just to have the enchanted diamond pick put back that I had, and I would eat the loss on everything else I had on me, but, he said he couldn't spawn anything for anyone including himself.

If I wasn't a VIP member I wouldn't even have been posting this, but I am. 

Can an admin or somebody help me out on this one?

I believe current settings only return items for fire causing the final blow, not lava. This has happened to me when I fell into lava and lost 9 hearts from fall damage before dying to lava for the last heart. I don't believe they will give items back to you. It comes as a part of survival.

You mention that you wouldn't have posted this if you weren't a VIP. VIPs don't have a higher say/higher priority than anyone else, neither do Veterans, we're all equal players.

Oh I thought you just died in fire. Lava contact damage will not let you keep your items, as diggy said. Burn damage you receive after you step out however will let you keep them.

As mentioned before. If you die in lava, you'll lose everything.  Always been like that I'm afraid.

What has been said makes sense.
I will be sure to run like crazy out of lava so I die of fire damage only.

Only issue I have is with this JJ guy...
what makes you think that a VIP member wouldn't be treated a notch above the others?
We are paying to be here after all.

I for one think this server is WELL worth paying for...it is the best server I have ever played on ever, and those that pay certainly deserve a bit more than the "regular" folk.

And the special commands and access to Adminshop is not "a bit more" than normal users? That by itself is a very huge bonus that VIPs and Veterans have access to that regular users do not.

Just because you donated to the server doesn't mean we're going to give special treatment. We don't unban because someone is VIP/Veteran, we don't give out our items because someone is VIP/Veteran, and we certainly don't treat them like they're royalty.

A VIP/Veteran is simply someone who has donated to the server, and while we respect and are grateful for it, we're not going to treat them better because they had money while another member either didn't or didn't have a parent who was willing to donate for them. That would just be rude and disrespectful towards those that didn't have favorable circumstances to donate, because I know many wonderful members who would donate but their parents won't let them, or because they have no income to donate with in the first place.

So you're telling me that you're mad over lost pixels? In minecraft single player, does the game kindly return your items? Honestly, whether you're VIP or not you just have to man up and get the pixels back.
