Forthwind technical problems
« on: 13 May 2012, 06:31:25 »
This is for anyone who lives in forthwind. Someone has recently stole town money causing the town to rollback. Everything was unclaimed and doors, torches and signs have been destroyed. It will hopefully be resolved. If you need anymore info contact myself or some other ta's.

Okay, there was more problems than just the money being stolen. Money being out of the town bank wouldn't unclaim every single town plot the town owned, nor would it suddenly take away the town spawn like it did. That also does not explain how killerpie kept losing their money, even when TidalMewMew gave her 3k.

Also it was not rolled back. Rolling back would mean that every single block would be set back to how it was before the town had claimed the plot. When a town plot is unclaimed all redstone, torches, doors, signs, etc will pop off. If no one had picked up the items then they would have despawned in four minutes. So that's all how it works.

I have no idea about what else happened to the town however.

I am standing by for anyone who needs help. I am ready to reclaim all plots we had, however the only limitation right now is money. Point me at any problem that needs to be solved and I will do what I can.

Also, the outpost is completely moot right now. We have done our best to tear up and store away the gold roads, and most of the valuables o nthe tower, otherwise any old person could go there and grief it all, which would NOT be good. It looks like for now, the outpost is unserviceable, all priority is main town. If you had family there, we are sorry.

Forthwinders, watch out for mobs, stay frosty.

The town went bankrupt.  That caused the town to not exist and it unclaimed everything.  Joe made himself mayor and put money into the bank, which recreated the town but everything was still unclaimed.  Also this is a post about Forthwind, so you didn't really need to post here.

can you keep an eye on viciousvinny, he is friends with them. He might be waiting until the town builds up again, then crash it to the ground. Thanks again though fatnoob.

I was trying to help explain some of the things that were confusing people, why shouldn't I be allowed to post here? Was I supposed to sit back and let everyone just stay confused about why all the doors, etc were all gone?

And as Foob showed, and I said, the town going bankrupt would not have caused all the plots to be unclaimed suddenly. The only thing that would do is make the town fall after the daily taxes were collected, which therefore had meant someone had to have done it.

I am entirely upset that this happened, especially since it was one of our best towns. I'm hoping this means AJ's going to be a lot more careful with who he makes TA. I think we can all take a lesson from this and only make those we really trust have so much power in our towns... I'm hoping something like this never happens again, it was terrifying even to me, especially when I liked the town so much. Knowing it could fall alarmed me, and I'm proud of how the truly loyal TA's reacted and scrambled to take care of the town and get back all they could.

The only thing left to ask is... will Foob be giving money to the town to let them reclaim all their plots? I don't think it's fair to make the town members and TAs work to regain all the money to reclaim every single lost plot, especially when they didn't cause it. I don't think anyone can complain if Foob would just give them back all the lost money to reclaim all the plots again.

Anyway, that's my wish. Foob to allow the town to reclaim all their plots, especially since now that it's all in the wilderness it's easily griefable...

I would like to thank you all for your concern and advice, and I will try to make use of them in the future.  :)

I would also like to explain what happened during that time. For some reason unknown right now, Killerpie1, GrandReaper770, and Viciousvinny decided to attack the town. This is shocking and sad, because Killerpie1 was actually the original mayor of Forthwind, so one can only wonder why he would do that. Grand and vinny are his close friends. One of them unclaimed every single plot in the entire town, and also took all of the money out of town, nearly causing it to die. While that was happening, the TAs that were not trying to implode the town were trying to prevent the destruction, and immediately contacted Fatnoob, who stopped the three from causing any further damage.

The damage could have been so much more had the others not taken action, so I am very happy and grateful for that.  :D   Now we just need to sort out a few things, and take a few simple steps to hopefully prevent this from happening again.

If you have any further concerns or questions, do not be afraid to contact me. I will try my best to answer them immediately.

Thank you,

-ajhl49

Although i hardly go on noobstown much now, i wouldn't attack my own town! The spire at forthwind outpost took days of mining to build...

I tried depositing money in the town bank to keep it up, but killerpie1 took it out again.

Yes, once again congratulations and thank you to all the TAs that responded so quickly and handled the situation as best they could. I'm not part of your town, but I am all the same very pleased to see how reliable they are.

This also reminded me of something Killerpie said. They had said something along the lines of "Forthwind has grown too overpowered" and that "perhaps we deserved it because of this". I found that incredibly strange for them to be saying at the time. Perhaps this is why they did it? They thought Forthwind was too "powerful"? Although I can hardly say that, it was hardly powerful at all.

Killerpie also mentioned that the town had "fallen into ruin" once they handed Forthwind over to you, AJ. I found that very rude of them, as I don't see that the town has declined, in fact it's just been growing all the time I've been on. You've been extremely giving and kind to anyone who entered your town whenever I was watching in the chat, and I was pleased to see you take care of your town members so kindly.

Anyway, that's just one reason I can think of for why Killerpie did it. If anyone else can remember anything strange they were saying during the incident I'd like to hear it. Making sense of this whole thing will definitely be a puzzle, and having all the pieces would be nice. Although it won't help, it can still at least explain things.

Any help you need AJ, I'll try and assist as I can! I may not be in your town, or even in your nation, but we all have to stay together during times like this.

To anyone who reads this, do you have any logs of Vinny even doing anything? No, you don't. Vinny wasn't even notified of this "tragedy" going on. Viciousvinny is a great player who would NEVER do anything to harm the town. The reason I did it was because the town and the server turned to ****. The community is the best, but the server itself, needs so much improvement. I mean, that was one of the easiest things I have ever done. Nether portal so griefers could easily get there, money gone so town would fall to ruin, and the unclaim wasn't even part of the plan! I was just testing! And it worked..... it actually worked! I have gone extremely crazy over this server, and it is just too much! I don't ****ing care about being unbanned, but I at least will say this. Please, Un-ban viciousvinny, he didn't do ****; and I would like to say this last and final thing...... I am glad I left.  3:)

Thanks for the kind words, unfortunately Viciousvinny will stay banned and his ban will forever be in your hands.

All I can say is, the community here at Noobstown enjoy the server and that's why they come on every day to play. Regarding Towny, I cannot change the way that works, there are many issues with it and I would love to improve the plugin. Finally, What happened to you? You were once a respective member of the community, like the people playing you enjoyed this server once. Why would you ruin this for the rest of the community? You even put "The community is the best" if you so feel this way, why on earth did you put your town residents, friends and people who looked up to you through this? This doesn't effect anything but the people living in that town.

Killer I think from this experience you need to learn to grow up, you deliberately tried to ruins peoples fun and enjoyment for what? Nothing.

...I mean, that was one of the easiest things I have ever done. ...

You were TA, people trusted you. If betraying these people was really the easiest thing you have ever done ... well you might want to think about your life and where you are heading with that attitude. Betraying people just to test something, hurting them just to prove something ... well, now you know how easy it is for powerfull goverments to lose sight of the things they were supposed to protect.

Think about that when you protest against any goverment the next time.

His ban will be forever in your hands, unfortunately as he was connected to you two its not "safe" to have him back on the server.

I'm sorry Vinny.. but, you need to seriously look at the people you are friends with and how they have ruined this for you. The most entertaining thing about all of this is, the town is now back up and running nothing was destroyed, so what did you gain out of this? Nothing but getting your best friend banned on something he enjoyed playing on. Congratulations.

This was a very immature act, you should learn to grow up. When your older people won't like the way that you act as the way you displayed here. Ruining people's fun makes anyone a disliked person, that is what you just turned yourself into. You might just think its a game and everything but no matter where you act it can show people how you really act. I would try avoiding this in the future.
