So, in V6 I intend to create a town named Gotham. I also intend to make a nation named Earth-two.

Basic ideals of this nation:
Freedom of speech. Within the bounds of the town's private chat group, no language or content restrictions. You can talk like an adult without fear of retribution. This is the biggest and most important ideal of the city. Even if you don't want to be a member of the city, you're welcome to join the chat group.

Tax-free property. No worrying about daily fees and potentially losing your claims because you stop playing minecraft for a week. Free plots as well.

Sensible mediation. I will work to resolve any internal issues people may have with each other in a fair manner. If you have an issue with another member about property locations or personality conflicts, I will do what I can to resolve the problem.

Help from Reigando. I offer free repairs and discounted sales to Gothamites. It's good to be in league with me.

Given the level of freedom I want people to have within this community, there's not much need for strict rules. There are many things I discourage, like idiocy in general, but I will not ban even that. Griefing and spamming are really the only things I can think of I specifically won't allow because they are disruptive and destructive.

I intend to host community events with prizes provided by myself and anyone who wants to donate. This would of course have to wait until after a bit of a player base is developed.

One such event I would like to do is "Iron Crafter", a take on iron chef where all participants must craft a certain type of structure and/or use a specific block as their primary ingredient.

I would like to have an exclusive community market where people can buy/sell at slightly discounted prices to one another. With the auction house, not sure how much people will care about using chest shops, but I still like them.

Just a heads-up: the new chat system will disable your text from being sent to chat if there are swear words included in it. However, from what I've been told, the filter is a lot more sensible... So you will likely be able to chat about your skys****er without a problem

I am having trouble understanding how you define 'mature players', if you are defining mature players as players that are adults I think you will need to seriously revise your post because you seem to be indirectly discriminating on the basis of a players age which is unacceptable. Furthermore I'm not sure how you would moderate the players joining your nation - If they are mature or not?

There has been several topics in the past about a mature player area in the past and they have been dismissed as unjust because they go against the server rules. Whether or not you create this environment our safety measures will still be put in place such as the filters that Adrian mentioned, so you will not be able to use any expletives in the chat. If I have got this wrong, and this chat is to speak about issues that may be controversial and may cause arguments in the global channels, I would encourage you to speak in a private chat, however you must understand that even though you aren't speaking in the global channel, if you break any rules your account will be possibly suspended, jail or even banned.

On a final point I would like to mention that we want to create a friendly, fun and more importantly safe environment for all players at Noobstown regardless of their age, gender and so on, this is why we have the safety measures such as the filters and Moderator/Prefects. If the above points that I have mentioned are wrong, I think you seriously need to add and give some more clarification on how you measure maturity and the topics that you may be speaking about in this town/nation.

Apart from this, I think it is a good idea to set up a small community to trade and set up events for.

Mature people do not use expletives very often. This town idea sounds like "You have to be mature join, but you can be immature afterwards if you want to."

My measure of maturity has nothing to do with age, but rather with content. If you shy away from basic topical discussions outside of minecraft, I would consider that immature and sheltered. That's what I mean to avoid with the label "mature".

So while I don't care about specific numbers of age, I would prefer not to have a 5 year old in my community who's parents don't want them to hear a discussion on say (ALERT, DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT) that crazy lady who tried to drive her car into the White House.

I understand the chat filters will still be in place, I don't really care about that, I'm professionally a seaman, I already get to cuss like one enough in my real life.

I do however care about being able to talk in an environment where "Hey let's not talk about that" is not the end of a completely benign conversation about some public issue. More than a couple times I have been witness to discussions being squashed by moderators and members of the community. Non-offensive, perfectly acceptable topics mind you.

I have to agree with Reigando on this one.  As to certain conversations being "squashed" by moderation, there certainly hasn't been equal treatment or consideration.  Although it was the exception, certain moderators often were rude to and harassed people/guests and "squashed" perfectly legitimate conversations, while at the same time bashing people's country of citizenship or disability.  As if anyone has a choice where they were born or what physical limitations they have.

If you want to make certain topics off limits, I suggest there be a defined list as part of the rules and not left up to moderation for determination in game.

Hi Max,

Moderators will challenge any conversations that are controversial or inappropriate, for example conversations about religion, war etc will be stopped as everyone has their own opinions, which are different and can cause arguments, which can escalate to rule breaking. We try to stop these conversations to prevent a player from breaking the rules, we do understand and take into account that we have adults playing here at Noobstown, but we are a family oriented server and all chat channels are moderated as such, so we can maintain as I've mentioned before a friendly, fun and more importantly safe environment for all players.

In response to your comment regarding Moderators making rude comments and harassing players, I would encourage you, and any other players to report any behaviour like you mentioned, directly to me and I can deal with that, as that is a serious issue.

On a last point, there are so many different situations that topics could be mentioned, some could be offensive and some might not be, it would be impossible for me to list every scenario of an inappropriate topic and how it could be offensive to some players. Also, most topics are controversial because of the varying opinions in the community, and I don't want to make the rules so strict that people aren't allowed an opinion because that's just unfair.

Yeah, that's part of the point of this town...to establish a community with a private chat. That's why in my little spiel about it I also invite members of other towns to join the chat, even if they don't join the city

While I understand both yours and Max's point of view, there is a underlying problem there:

Moderator are responsible for the whole community, even for private (\msg) chat.

At the same time you're asking moderators to not do their job and for special rules that you're supposed to enforce with no entitlement.

You could simply use other methods of communication (voice chat for example) that don't rely on the server at all. Anyone going there is on their own.

As said, moderators can be reported as everyone else if needed.

I'm not really understanding why it's a town for mature players only and how would you know who's mature and who isn't? Sorry but it seems a bit absurd.

Now that launch is approaching, I just wanted to mention that I still plan to build up my funds and apply for and buy a town as soon as possible. So, for those who expressed interest if you're still interested that's great, I'll get the ball rolling on that quickly.
