Overpriced upkeep
« on: 3 Aug 2012, 22:06:17 »
I have owned a town for about a week and only found out that I have to pay 850 noobs or whatever for daily upkeep , I have 8k to my name and I could really do without getting 600 noobs extra taken off me every day. If I had of known It was going to cost this much I would of reconsidered buying a town. I understand there are too many towns but why make it harder for the towns that already exist (I bought my town off someone) , I'm sure there any many rich towns, mods or admins who wouldnt understand why this is such a big deal for me but my town has only really started, I worked very hard for it and to find out its going to be even harder to keep the thing I worked so hard for makes me sad :(

The higher upkeep is probably more to see which town are more prepared to keep up with the steeper prices and see which mayors are bothered about keeping their town alive. I must admit it isn't that hard to get 850 Noobz a day to keep up with the upkeep. Also you could tax your residents if you really want, just to get some money and see which of your residents are active and bothered to stay in the town. :)

Another thing you can do is have any TAs you have help out by depositing some money as well. They're as much responsible for keeping the town going after all, it's their job from their position to help out the town how they can so they might as well help up with some of the upkeep money.

Shouldn't be too hard to keep up with it if the town as a whole works to keep itself going.

You think that's bad? I have to pay town and nation upkeep which comes to a grand total of 2400 every day, it may be a lot but these are the consequences that you have to take into consideration if you wish to run a town/nation.

The new townprices make sense for me.
I'm just not sure about the higher cost for using the tp to townspawns. For new players with little money who don' t want to live in the wilderness, hese prices could mean that they can't really look around the towns to pick one they like.

I agree Albatross. I can see the upkeep prices as a way of reigning in the creation of new towns, but the new TP price is a bit steep. A round the map trip to check out potential towns for joining has gone from 20-40 noobz to 200-400.

With that being the only method for finding the location and traveling to the towns, short of knowing somebody in that town and TPA'ing to them, which isn't an option for people just learning their way around our server. That's just my 2 cents worth though.
