The Borderlands
« on: 15 Feb 2012, 01:03:05 »
I am just seeing if some people will like this idea..... I would like to make a town out near the borders of the world where no one has been. I would prefer this to be some kind of trading town, and for the people in it to have jobs, kind of like in real life. Any ideas or suggestions will help, and please tell me if you like the idea in the first place.
Thanks

well i'm personally thinking about having a railway that will travel the player hundreds of non-real miles to the coveted far lands, not sure if i will be getting full support from everyone on the server tho...

The server has a border. Therefore it isnt really possible to get to the Farlands...

xxYugoxx found it the other day... I was 'helping' him... so theres a bunch of snowmen at 4225 in one direction...

I'll assume it's the same for all directions.

If you get this thing off the ground, would you be interested in joining RavenHelm?
We would love to have you.

Is RavenHelm a town or a nation?

what would happen if... you try to build off the border? like an artificial island floating off the edge of the world?

You can't even get passed the border so I don't see how you'll be able to build..

is it like theres a glass wwall that appears when you get close?
and when you do does the rest of the place just look like some big void?

I don't know about a glass wall.. it just appears with a message saying something along the lines of 'You have reached the border.' and there is the actual world beyond the border, there's just no way of getting there.

Yup. No matter how hard you try, it just keeps bouncing you back, exclaiming how you have reached the border...you see a block of diamond just past it, but your efforts to get to it are utterly futile. 3:) (There's not really any diamond blocks past it, that bit was just meant to make it sound good. XD ) Though I've personally hypothesized that it might be possible to get past it by reaching the border in the nether then portalling to the overworld from there, in theory you should be past the normal border by roughly ( w*8 ) - w blocks, where 'w' is the distance at which the world border lies from (0, 64, 0), which is about 5,000 on noobstown if I remember correctly. Though, I've never tried it myself, and I'm really pretty shure it wouldn't work, but again, it sounds good. *shrug*

Did that on another server with world borders... I made a portal at 1000 in the nethers, so it should be at 8000 in the main world... it world generated the area at 8000 causing MASSIVE lag for everyone... and then when it got done it teleported me to the border...

So...in other words it works...briefly. XD
