aaaaand squids are still useless XD

I wonder if you can't control them and swim fast?

Pet bats are awesome, btw.  If you have the tokens, it's a must buy.

o.o soo ur saying just go to the app data thing and delete all that's there? :O?

Nooooooo!  Just the .minecraft subfolder within %appdata%  (I don't think it's been mentioned, but I'm assuming you're running a Windows OS, or the folder locations and file names that I give will be different)

You don't even need to delete it, as that folder contains your world files, screenshots, and other information that you may wish to keep in the event that you solve the problem with the launcher error.  The best course is simply to rename it, which will force the launcher to create a new .minecraft folder, pull a new copy of program files from the Mojang server, and give you a clean slate in that regard.  What you rename your existing .minecraft folder as is up to you, .minecraft.old, .oldminecraft, so long as you can find it again if need be.

I think you indicated that you'd already deleted or renamed your .minecraft folder in %appdata% (which would be in {drive}\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data\.minecraft), or at least deleted the /Versions subfolder, but I may have misunderstood.  In that case, the launcher should have tried to pull down a new copy of the latest version and populate a new .minecraft folder, which may be giving the same error when trying to launch, leaving me to suspect a problem with either 1) folder permission problems while trying to create or modify something within that directory path, 2) connection issue going out on the network from a firewall, anti-virus/malware, or local malware, or 3) a problem with your local copy of the launcher.

Starting with our .minecraft folder renamed to something that the launcher won't know to look for, I'd say we might as well rule out the possibility of a launcher problem.  At this time I would go ahead and delete the launcher, head to minecraft.net/download and pull a new copy of the minecraft.exe launcher, and save it to either the desktop, downloads folder, or 'My Documents'.  I don't know that it would make any difference, but as someone had suggested on another post, perhaps try saving the launcher to a different location than where it had been previously.  Run the launcher, and depending on your version of Windows and your security settings, you will likely get a prompt upon first running the launcher asking if you want to allow minecraft.exe to make changes to your computer, which of course we must say yes.  It should then attempt to download and unpack a new copy of 1.7.4 into a new %appdata%/.minecraft folder, and then launch that %appdata%/.minecraft/versions/1.7.4/1.7.4.jar with your installed java (I think that path is correct?  You can change all this within the launcher profile settings, but I believe that to be the default setting)  If it fails at either of these points, we have to look at other possibilities.

Oh wow.  I google'd minecraft couldn't unpack natives and apparently that's been a not-too-uncommon error that's difficult to pinpoint.  There's been a host of suggestions on how to resolve it, ranging from completely disabling security software / antivirus, running the launcher as administrator, running malware scanners and hijackthis, moving the launcher to a different folder and clearing the versions folder, verifying that you have the newest installer / launcher, and more.  But, I'd hardly say that there's a conclusive answer as to what had caused the problem or how best to approach fixing it, as different things have worked for some and not for others.  I'd recommend reading through some of those topics (minecraftforum had a few at the top of the search results) and going through the various things that have worked for others.  2-1/2 days to go, good luck!

Other / Re: What Client Side Mods Will You Use In V6?
« on: 4 Feb 2014, 15:09:22 »
My answer will depend on a few things, primarily if 1.7.2 mods work with 1.7.4 client, or if we will be able to connect with a 1.7.2 client.  At a glance, mod support for 1.7.4, and even 1.7 in general is still trying to catch up.

There's a tool here that will detect and remove old versions of Java -> http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/remove_olderversions.xml

Although I seem to remember the newest version having a 'check for and remove old versions' utility bundled in as part of the installer.

You could maybe add fish to the junk shop  ;)

This seems even more relevant now that there are four different kinds of fish.

Good work!  I got a laugh out of that one  :D

Eight days away from release and my computer decides to stop working, great timing :D. I had plans for the three early hours :c. For some reason my monitors are telling me no signal even though they're wired to my comp that's turned on. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, please PM me!

I'd venture to say that if you post more details, there's bound to be somebody here that can help troubleshoot the problem.  New thread with full specs and configuration, and what you've tried so far?

Yeah, video card, graphic card, display adapter, whatever you'd call it.  My desktops over the past several years have been workstations with integrated video, so 20 fps on fast display settings was a best case scenario.  My laptop does a little better, but not much, and 1.7 seems slower than 1.6.4 for some reason.  I just threw together a 'V6 box' with a cpu and ram bought used, a power supply donated from an old workstation, and an nvidia GT 630.  Not a high spec card, but new MB has no video out, so needed something cheap, available, and within capacity of my recycled power supply.  Been testing it out on MineApoc and seems to do okay.  Just hoping I won't have to buy a bigger power supply and monster cards to crosslink :P  The cryptocurrency guys have run the prices up too high, apparently.

Those look amazing.  What video card(s) are you using?  I'd like to try this on my computer, and see if I can still keep the framerate in the double digits.

There are roughly 6 other islands in the same shape as that one, and at least 10 other lovely 'small' islands.

The one south/southeast of it could pass for it's twin.  Gotta love the little mushroom islands nearby :D

I've picked a spot~ It's perfect for what I have planned. Just have to get the funds to claim it all~

I think there's going to be a competition to claim the scenic islands XD

Hmm, I dont know where to put a house, in the townworld, or in the wildernis, Maybe ill juts put this RV at the gate of noobstown.  :P
Basicly got everything I would need in such small space  :P, to bad it doesnt drive.

Is that a Fleetwood Bounder?  Better not be cooking anything in there...

I don't think a price has been stated, but I know the price goes up each time. You're going to need a bunch of money.

I think the first 10 chunks (16x16 block squares) is free, and then the price will increase per chunk.  I can't say this with authority, but that's going off what I remember being said before.

I've always liked Default Textures Improved (http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/eddiepack/), but I haven't updated since 1.6.2, so I can only take their word for it on being 100% complete through 1.7.2

I got a sponge, 20k?
I'm afraid that'd put me over budget by about $19,000

What do you guys think? :)

I'm impressed.  Have you thought about doing digital modeling as a career?  Industries always need people with a good background in CAD, CAM/CNC, and the like.

That's a sneaky way of letting someone know they're getting a promotion :P
Had I been told to pack up my stuff, and that I wouldn't be working there anymore, I very well might have said something, well, unprofessional XD  Best of luck with the head manager position!

Too bad he didn't find any diamond... or did he? ._.

I've got a mess of dirt, clay, and gravel, but didn't have to dig down to diamond level.
Was really just looking for the source block for where the water was coming in under the house.  Need an admin to spawn in a sponge, but for now we've got a redstone circuit powering a sump pump.

You guys have come up with some great Halloween costumes - kinda making me feel guilty about recycling the same old creepy_clown.png skin from last year, even though it did creep some people out XD
