Great thanks to everyone who voted last month. We're very grateful for everyone who voted and remember every single vote gets you 2,500Nbz straight away, plus enters you into this competition. Those with + amounts next to their name have earned the bonuses for being in the last months in a row too! Towns can now control whether or not passive animals are able to spawn, in both a town-wide setting and a plot-by-plot level (with plots able to override the town setting). It works in a similar way to the mob spawning setting but for animals instead. By default animal spawning in towns is still on, but to turn it off, as a member of senior town staff simply use /town set animals off, and then /town set animals on to turn them back on again. By default in the individual plots they are set to use the town setting, but this can be overridden using /plot set animals off and /plot set animals on, plus to set the plot back to use the town setting use /plot set animals reset. This is only a small change, but it's something that has been brought up on a few occasions! If you've got any questions or feedback just reply.

As promised this is a post to let you all know that the server is now up-to-date with Minecraft 1.12! This means you get use of all of the update features from 1.9 through to 1.12. You can see a list of the more known Minecraft changes on the MinecraftWiki: I've also updated loads of the plugins we use on the server to include loads of new features that'll be able to see as you use them, this includes a new Pet menu ( /pets) and pet system, updates to the Auction ( /auction) ( can sell high priced items now ), updates to the Wilderness, Towns and a range of other plugins too. Plus we've got a brand new simplified spawn at /warp spawn produced by MagicMan27, with easy access to all of the different worlds you might need! All of the features should be working as intended, but as always with updates if you find any issues please report them immediately so that I can sort them. I hope you enjoy this update, it's been something we've worked towards for well over a year now, and has been as massive hurdle to reach. To celebrate as promised the rest of the weekend will be 3x mcMMO XP, plus if you're online there might be some randomly timed giveaways and events to take advantage of the new features!

As previously hinted; the update for Noobstown to go straight to 1.12 is very nearly ready! This is a announcement to let you all know that the server will be going down from 8pm BST this coming Friday (30th June) ( what's that in my timezone?) and will be hopefully be back up in the early hours of Saturday 1st July with the 1.12 update live! There'll be a update post here once we're back including some of the changes on top of the Minecraft updates. Due to the uncertainty of updates I can't give an estimate of what time it might be done, but I'll work as fast as I can do; keep checking the site to find out! Plus once we're back up on Saturday; then throughout the rest of the weekend it'll be triple mcMMO XP! Plus to help share out some of the new things I'll be running a few randomly timed events/giveaways for those of you online . This is a massive update of things, we've not be using the latest version of Minecraft for well over a year now, so this should be a great change for the better. To clear up a few questions I've heard here are a few commonly asked questions about the update: Q: What version is the server updating to?A: The server will be updating straight from 1.8 all the way to 1.12. Q: When updated to 1.12 do I have to play on a 1.12 client or can I keep using 1.x?A: You will have to play the server in a 1.12 once we update so be sure to update your client as soon as you can do. Q: Are you introducing the 1.9 combat changes?A: Yes, the cooldowns, etc. will be coming to the server. Q: Are any of the new Minecraft features blocked like in previous updates?A: Since I've had a long time to work towards the updates hopefully none of the new features should be blocked! There's loads of new features, they've obviously been adjusted into the protections in towns and the Wilderness but almost all of new the features should be possible. I'm open to hearing about anything which could be adjusted if it's not completely possible though. Q: Are you allowing the use of the elytra (wings)?A: Sure! You'll be able to use the elytra in the same way you could do in vanilla. They won't work around spawn and a few other areas, but on your own land or in towns they should work just fine! Q: What's the plan for the End updates?A: The border in the End will be dramatically increased to allow you to make use of the islands and End Cities. (Need a way to get the elytra ) You'll also be able to respawn the dragon, etc. as normally possible in 1.12 vanilla. Q: Will you be resetting the Mining World, Nether and End with the update?A: Yes, along with the update I'll be resetting all of the temporary worlds to allow you to get the use of the latest 1.12 features . Q: What about shulker boxes?A: In the Wilderness Shulker boxes will be protected just like any other unit. You'll be able to do all of the normal cool Minecraft things there, including the placing and breaking using redstone! In towns they'll be protected slightly differently; by LWC, again just like all of the chests, etc. in Towns already. If you've got any other questions not answered above just post them in a reply or ask me directly and I'll try to answer them . Not long to wait now .

Just a quick post to let you know that you can now connect to the server using the new Minecraft 1.12. Again we've not completely updated server things fully so you won't get access to the new server-side features just yet, but you can at least play on the server even if you've upgraded, and will get access to any client side changes . We will however be updating to the full update of 1.12 very soon hopefully, so keep an eye out for that !

Leading on from a suggestion made a few weeks ago about a lack of the options to find what shops exist on the server, I've added a quick and hopefully simple new feature to the site to try and improve this. It'll come to server too once I get chance if it's something that people like and find useful. Simply by visiting https://www.noobscraft.com/shops and searching for any item in the game* you should be able to see a list of all active players' chest shops set up to both sell and buy that item on Noobstown. Using those prices it'll also give you a rough guide for the general average price of that item (ignoring the fact that some of the chests might sell unique items/enchants, etc.) and a colour coding system showing how you could potentially sneakily make some money just by buying and selling between other players. It should hopefully be simple to use, but I'm open to any feedback, if it's something you don't particularly like the idea of, or something you'll find really useful I'd love to hear.
In other potentially exciting news the update of Noobstown to Minecraft 1.11.2/1.12 is really not far off now, so keep an eye out for that over the next few weeks .

We're approaching Easter again! To celebrate this year we've got a new Quest produced by craftymatt13OH, you can begin this as normal at /warp theme and get the Tokens using /kit theme. There will be further parts coming out soon too! Plus we've brought back the annual Egg Hunt on the server; over the next few weeks you'll be able to hunt around for the eggs spawning around the Town and Wilderness worlds. If you find one of these eggs anywhere in the worlds simply click it (Obviously not an egg someone has already found and placed though , if you place these heads they'll be perfectly safe!) and you'll be given that Egg itself. There's a total of 57 colours/designs to collect, if you manage to get one of each then let me know and I'll give you a special prize for doing that too! From all of the Noobstown Team; Happy Easter! Part 2 of the Easter Quest is now live. Help Judy Hops, Colonel Sanders and the others grow Judy's fur back so she can travel back in time to Easter Eve to deliver Easter Baskets. There is a special added item that you may want to watch out for and keep. You can begin this as normal at /warp theme and get the Tokens using /kit theme.

APRIL FOOLS! (This feature is no longer available!) After receiving a large amount of feedback from a number of players, we've finally introduced a highly anticipated new feature to fix the lack of wool around builds. We've introduced a new trial feature exclusively to Noobstown.com to simply visually replace all commonly occurring whole solid blocks with wool of a similar colour. It makes the all the worlds seem so much more vibrant and definitely makes things softer on the feet to walk around! To enjoy this new feature you need to do nothing more than play as normal; everything has been done for you; it's great! Sadly we couldn't include all non-whole/solid blocks. It's really something you have to experience to see how great it is, but I've included a few screenshots of some areas around Noobstown to show you the change. Share any screenshots of some of your builds now made of wool if you want! I hope you all enjoy this change on 1st April, but I'm definitely open to feedback if you think some of the colours are slightly off. If for some reason you decide that this feature isn't great and you don't want it anymore you can opt-out using /wool in-game.APRIL FOOLS! (This feature is no longer available!)

As some of you will hopefully be aware; the 18th of March 2017 marks Noobstown's 6th Birthday! On the 18th this year the server will be 6 years old! That's a crazy amount of time for a Minecraft server; with us being one of the first dedicated town servers ever! As normal we plan to celebrate this landmark; starting this Saturday 11th! We'll begin this Saturday with a small gathering for some events, including a drop party of sorts; then at the end of that we'll begin over a week of double mcMMO XP leading up to the 18th (plus maybe some other fun!). The events this Saturday (11th) will begin at around 10pm GMT ( What's that in my timezone? Just be aware that some places are already observing Summer Time so be sure to check ) and will go on for a few hours depending on how many of you arrive! I hope those of you who can do will join me on the server for it. Happy Birthday Noobstown! (On the 18th )

January's contest for the theme of Castles is of course now over, and I've been through the entries, once again lots of great entries. The winner for Janaury's Castles contest is: gazzer2. You see see the design at Noobscraft.com/cotm/ and it's in the screenshot below. It's a miniature castle! Thank-you to everyone who took part in last month's contest...participation awards and prizes for the month including those for taking part will be given out soon.
February's Contest Each month you get the opportunity to submit a chunk you own to be reviewed in our contest, we're looking for creative, interesting and well-designed plots according to a monthly theme! You can find out about the previous winners at Noobs.town/cotm/. How this works: - Each month we'll make a post like this on the site and give a theme for that month.
- You then have the rest of the month to make design and build something in either the Wilderness OR the Town world according to the monthly theme, in a chunk you own.
- You then submit your chunk using /cotm submit while stood in that chunk. Then make a reply to the monthly post outlining your design, explain it a bit if you want to.
- At the end of the month (Early March this time) I will then go around all of the entries and judge which we deem to be the winner. Another post will then be made announcing the winner and all entries/prizes will be handed out.
It's very simple to take part, just use /cotm submit! A few rules: - Your build must be within 1 single Minecraft chunk (16x16), but height doesn't matter. If you're using Minecraft 1.10+ you can use F3+G to view the boundaries in yellow
! - You must own the land you're submitting your entry in, if it's in the Town world you must individually own the plot, and in the Wilderness you must own the land.
- You need to follow the theme.
- You need to actually build something, just submitting a simple few blocks to get the rewards won't count.
- You need to submit your design using /cotm submit before midnight on the last day of the month (UK time)! This deadline is automated so don't miss it.
- You need to leave your build up after the end of the month because we need chance to judge it!
The winner of each month will earn themselves: - A unique winner trophy for that month
- 100,000Nbz
- Your chunk showcased at Noobs.town/cotm/
- Your name forever listed in-game when doing /cotm contests
- 5 FREE Wilderness Chunks This is irrespective of if you built in the Town world!
Plus everyone who takes part will receive a participation prize and a free wilderness chunk (again irrespective of if you built in the Town world). Got any questions? Just ask them below in a reply or in-game! As for the theme for February; with it being the month with Valentine's Day in it, the theme is literally just the colour Red! It's a different style of theme this month, but gives you lots of options. It could be a building which is red, something related to the colour or something which simply is that colour, be creative though; but also remember the whole entry has to fit into 1 single 16x16 Minecraft chunk!
