You can now connect to Noobstown.com using 1.9 and 1.10 clients! This is not our complete update to 1.10 which will be coming in the future but at least you can now connect using that version in your client and can make the most of the client side features possible in 1.9 and 1.10. Any 1.9 and 1.10 features which we don't support should just not work on the server for example the new blocks and mobs do not exist yet. Everything will continue to work just as it did in 1.8 for now until we update our features to fully support 1.10 and beyond, another post will be made once this is the case. As this isn't a complete update it is somewhat of a work-around to allow everyone to connect, there are possibly going to be some issues, if you notice any problems no matter how small please immediately report them. You can read about the update to 1.10 here: https://mojang.com/2016/06/minecraft-110-an-update-of-fire-and-ice/, and 1.9 here: https://mojang.com/2016/02/minecraft-19-combat-update/, remembering we'll only support the new client based (things like graphical changes, and new F3 options, etc.) features for now. I really hope you like this small change though, feel free to update to 1.10 now .

To get permission to create a new town on Noobstown you must first have been grated permission by making and having a new town application accepted in this post. New towns will cost 500,000Nbz as their initial fee, but can end up costing many millions to set up and maintain, owning a town is not a light task you are required to be consistently active and to respect those who become a resident under your title. By applying for new Town creation permissions you are accepting the rules of a Mayor, these include: - The ability to take care of a community of player.
- To make good decisions that are fair and acceptable.
- To understand all in game rules and ensure your residents do too.
- An understanding that everything within the town is 'shared' and is not yours to keep. Money deposited in the town bank is to be spent on town related purchases, once you add it to your town or nation money it is no longer yours and you must not take it back for personal use. It should also not be used as a personal bank for your own funds.
- If you become less active you must be willing to pass your town to a high ranked citizen, we'd idealy like to see you coming on weekly but after a month of inactivity your title might be at risk.
- To be a good listener and open to take advice from your citizens.
- Be able to take control of situations that occur in town (Fights, arguments and what not) You should be the one to report any rule breaking to a Noobstown staff member.
- The understanding that items and blocks such as chests in towns do not belong to you. If and when plots are cleared the items do not go to the town or yourself, you must make every effort to return them to their original owner or must store them separately until you can return them.
- Towns are not to be created for small exclusive friendship groups, they are community orientated and must be run that way. This does not suggest you cannot run towns with friends but simply means you must be willing to accept members outside of your friendship group. If you are not an open town you should often accept applications or requests in game to your discretion.
- Understanding that town permissions are your responsibility and that you are responsible for the permissions you set. For example: Setting a plot to public which is then farmed by a random player, that is your choice it will not be considered griefing.
- If a player has broken your town rules, you are responsible for giving them power and this is out of our hands. We do not deal with permission based issues. We do however allow Mayors the right to know who has broken blocks, etc. as required, to ensure that mayors are able to take appropriate action against them in their land. e.g. Kicking or blocking them from town.
- You must have the required money to purchase your town at the time of the application, at the moment this is 500,000Nbz. You must also have enough money to fund the beginning of your town, we'd recommend another 500,000Nbz on top of the original fee to begin with. If you only have 500,000Nbz at the moment your application will not be accepted, you must be able to pay the fee and maintain expanding and improving/building.
- You must be willing to share your power with others. We're more likely to accept applications by small groups of players than just an individual who is likely to need to find extra players in the future.
- You must have an idea/plan on where you'd like your town to be located before applying.
- Upon making a new town you must outline your town rules before accepting any residents so they know what needs to be done as a resident.
There is no specific format for applications, they can be as long or as short as you think you need them to be to get all of the information across, but please include at least the following information in general: - Your planned town name.
- A general idea about where you'd like to create the new town, coordinates would be great.
- How much money you have at the moment.
- Why you'd like to start a new town and not just join an existing one?
- How will your town be different to all of the other towns?
- How much time will you be able to dedicate to running a new town in general?
- What are your specific plans are for creating plots, farms, whatever you're planning to build, etc. give an overview of your plan.
Be aware we will not just be determining whether or not your application is approved from the post itself, you will need to be an active, rule abiding member of the community already to even be considered. Please don't feel down if your application is not approved either, you will get a chance to apply again if you aren't successful at the time. By submitting a reply and an application to this post you're agreeing to follow the mayor rules.

Noobstowny has now been successfully added to the Noobstown server! The server is back online now you should be able to connect at 'Noobstown.com'. There are lots of new town related features to enjoy now ! I hope you enjoy the new features and improves we've introduced and plan to introduce in the future. This is the biggest update to Noobstown since we updated to version 6 over 2 years ago now. It's a massive leap forward in becoming independent of third-party plugins which is our longer-term goal. You can read a list of the changes which have been added through the Noobstowny update at http://Noobs.town/noobstowny/ and can see a full list of the possible commands at https://www.noobscraft.com/guides/town-command-guide too. I'll be on tonight (24th-25th) and over the weekend and beyond to provide help as you try out the new features too. Just ask if you need information about any of it . Or feel free to ask questions here. As this is such a massive change to Noobstown we are expecting a few minor issues so please don't be alarmed if there are, please just immediately report them to staff and we'll work on a fix as soon as possible. Do not abuse any issues you find. We're also more than open to feedback on the changes so please give any suggestions or ideas you've got. Just a note we'll be opening up town applications again this weekend, not tonight in-case there are any issues we need to deal with. I'll add to this and make a reply once they open again.

As many of you will hopefully have noticed the timer on the site is now under 24 hours! We'll be going down to update to Noobstowny at around 7pm BST on Friday (tomorrow at the time of writing)! The update is likely to take several hours, so the server will be down for that time. Both this site and our TeamSpeak server ( voice.noobstown.com) should still be up throughout it though! Once the server is ready we'll make another announcement here and will re-open the server (so keep checking back!) Since this is a new system we're introducing it will initially be in a 'beta' stage until we're sure things are working exactly as we want, therefore please be aware we might have to go down for quick fixes/changes if any issues are discovered. I have personally spent many many hours testing this and the staff team have been able to test it for over a month now, but we might have missed something so please don't be concerned if we have, please just immediately report any issues to us and I'll fix it as soon as possible ( that's not an excuse to abuse them though ). Don't be alarmed if we have problems, they'll be sorted just keep trying to play and check out the new features and let us know if you have problems. While we're down feel free to read a comprehensive list of the commands in the Town Command Guide I have written, it outlines all of the commands, all commands which match up with the old system and any new ones are all listed. Plus it might be a good idea to refresh yourself on the list of changes as outlined at https://www.noobscraft.com/noobstowny/. I really hope you enjoy these changes once they're here, it's been a massive project for me and I can't wait for any feedback, things can change if you . Really not long to go now...

Earlier today Mojang announced the release of Minecraft 1.10, as with all Minecraft updates we will NOT be supporting 1.10 yet. (We're still on 1.8!) Assuming that a stable release for 1.10 is available we will likely be skipping 1.9 and going straight to 1.10 when we do eventually update. You can find out more about the 1.9 plan here.Recent tweets from the developers of Minecraft indicate that they may be planning to make releases contain less changes but be more frequent, we obviously will try to keep up with them as they come out but we will only update once we're sure that Noobstown will be safe and playable in the latest version. As soon as we are safely able to update to the latest version of Minecraft we will do (whatever version that might be in the future). As always do not update to this version or if you'll need to use a 1.8 profile to continuing playing on Noobstown. To do so if you've updated first click the "Edit Profile" button in the bottom left, then in the "Use Version" dropdown select "release 1.8.9". Then click the "Save Profile" button (which is behind the dropdown in my picture below) and just click "Play" like you normally would! We have still got loads of things coming to Noobstown this Summer, including the Noobstowny update which will begin in just over 16 days as of writing this.

As you are hopefully aware by now, for almost the past year now I've been working on the new town system for the server; Noobstowny. This has been an enormous project which has taken me hundreds of hours to work on, we're really nearing a point of release now though, as explained in a previous post we will be releasing it this Summer! As part of our plan we wanted to completely rebuild Towny such that we'd be able to support our own features and fix bugs much faster than we could do if we continued to use the existing third-party plugin, it was however our plan to make the system work in a very similar way so that most commands are exactly the same, if you know how to use Noobstowny then hopefully it won't be much of a change at all. Despite it being very similar to Towny we do however still have quite a number of changes which I'd love to discuss with you all, you can find a list of some of the bigger ones at https://www.noobscraft.com/noobstowny/ (just click on the heading image and the content will expand). The page is quite long, it's a lot of information and reading. I really would recommend you read it all though as there are a few important new features and changes you need to be aware of as the changes may directly effect you. These changes definitely aren't set in stone though, I am more than open to your feedback and ideas about them, please feel free to moan or praise them; we want Noobstowny to be something everyone wants us to move forward to so the changes need to be what the majority want, so things in that list can and might change. That also isn't a completely full list of the changes either, there are far too many small things to list, but they are the big ones which are likely to be polarising, cool or require your attention. There will be a detailed and full guide for how to use all of the new features and commands coming just before the release which will be the final changes list. We will be releasing Noobstowny before the name changing update and other larger Summer things to ensure minimal issues arise as we update each time. So initial update explained below will only be for Noobstowny, not the other Summer things yet! Finally I'd like to announce our planned release date for Noobstowny! The server will go down for the update at around 7pm BST on the 24 of June (What's that in my timezone?)! We will then work on transitioning over and will release later that night or early Saturday morning in the UK, we can't give a time for when we'll be back online since we don't know exactly how long the change over will take. But we will be going down to begin the update at around 7pm BST. This is an enormous update for the server and I really hope you like what we've got planned, but please do give any honest feedback you've got on the changes available at the page linked above. I look forward to hearing your feedback and I hope you enjoy it once we've changed over; really not long to wait now!

Please read If you use hoppers As several of you have noticed over the last few days the server has been experiencing some quite extreme lag, this appears to be caused by a problem relating to how hoppers deal with protecting the flow of items, every single second the server is having to check for thousands of different hoppers around the worlds and to try and limit these accordingly. This isn't sustainable for us going forward, so we're going to have a make a minor change to how hoppers and blocks which store items work on Noobstown. We obviously don't want to punish you for making big redstone machines, they're really cool, so we're not going to limit that in any way at this time. We do have a solution to this problem though which is like to solve the problem we've currently got. It will be happening in two stages to make sure you get chance to make your items safe, (these don't apply to the wilderness world since that uses the /wild unit protection which works differently): Stage 1 (Today Already Done):- You will no longer be able to place hoppers underneath or pointing into any block which can store items (chests, other hoppers, droppers, etc.) that you do not own (using LWC (/cprivate, /cpublic, etc.)
- You will no longer be able to place blocks which can store items (chests, hoppers, droppers, etc.) in a position where a hopper you don't own would be pointing into that block you're trying to place.
These two things should make safe any issues with people trying to steal your items or annoyingly give you items when you don't want them to. Stage 2 (Likely in a week or so):We're doing this at the earliest of this coming weekend to give you a few days to adjust the following on the tiny chance you fall into the situation explained below. - We will be turning off all hopper flow protections. Effectively meaning if you've got a block with a hopper flowing in or out of it then when we make this change the items will flow irrespective of any LWC permissions set on either of the blocks.
- Both the block (chests, etc.) and the hopper will be protected individually from players just looking and taking items manually, but moving forward items will freely flow between hoppers and blocks they connect with, irrespective of ownership. This really shouldn't be an issue for the majority of you, your items will still be safe because of the changes made in stage 1. The only issue is likely to arise if you already have a situation where you've already got a hopper following in or out of a block you don't own (or the other way around). If you have then you've got a few days to fix this by moving the blocks so they aren't touching or pointing into each other.
I realise this change might not be something you all want, but it will make things safer in the long term, we need to consider the well-being of the server as a whole in terms of the lag being caused by this. The impact of this change is likely to be non-existent for the majority of you and only minimal for those it does effect. This might have been quite a confusing post because of the specifics of the issue, so if you've got any questions please do feel free to ask them, I'll happily demonstrate what the change is and how to solve it etc. in-game if you contact me.

Just a small update to let you all know that earlier today we introduced a change to Chestshops such that you can now use hoppers to take directly out of the chest that is the shop. (As long as it already has rights to do so due to other locks.)It wasn't possible to do this before, and it is obviously only a minor change; but this now allows for you to easily and quickly make automatic refilling/emptying shops as well as have mass purchasing with just 1 sign. It's a small change which could allow for some really cool automated shops if you make the most of it. All shop chests now automatically allow this, so if you've got any with hoppers below already, they are likely to already have begun emptying. I hope you enjoy this change but as always any feedback is appreciated.

Just a quick update to let you know that the Mining world, Nether and End worlds have all been reset for May! We're now also using Minecraft's built-in world borders for all of those worlds too, so you should be easily able to see the border from a distance now (big flashy wall now), but be warned if you've got any homes, etc. which were set outside the border previously, because you will be hurt slowly if you are outside of it now.
Another note: earlier in the week we adjusted a few things about spawning of mobs in the Nether, so hopefully Wither Skeletons should be easier to find now, sorry about that issue if anyone couldn't find any .

Just a small change: we've changed it so that you no longer see the "You Died!" screen with the respawn button when you die on the server now. You will now automatically instantly respawn in the world at your appropriate spawning spot. (Normally wherever your /spawn takes you), with a new 'You Died!' message shown instead. This should hopefully stop the issue of getting stuck on the death screen too!Along with the instant respawning, now when you die we've made it show the world and coordinates you were at just as you died. This should make attempting to find your previous spot much easier for those of you without the /back options and might just be useful in general to know generally where you were. I hope you like this small change, but any feedback on it would be appreciated.

As originally announced just under a month ago we've made further changes to the old [New] rank Noobstown today. From today new players who connect will simply be referred to as a [Player] (and [P] in tab), they'll still be in the grey colour but won't be branded as being 'new' anymore. We no longer require them to register for an account for most of the perks in-game so we feel it best to reflect this with the rank. They are no longer limited by land or channel changes, etc. These new players will now have almost all of the same perks as being a Member but obviously will be limited for several of the site features and a few things in-game related to that, but they should be considered just as welcome as any Member. We really hope you'll all embrace this change and begin welcoming the new players as though they are part of the community already and not someone who has to register to join us . Obviously they can become a Member by registering, but this isn't required for them to be a part of the community. There will be further changes to the tutorials and guides to reflect these changes soon. Any feedback about this will be gladly accepted too though.

An update about what we're up to and our plans for things to come later this year - The Biggest change since Version 6 began over two years ago! As many of you will have noticed over the last few weeks our player numbers have dropped quite dramatically, we just want to make an update post to let you know that we've definitely not just abandoned Noobstown, we're working hard behind the scenes to bring you a number of highly anticipated updates later this year. There are still a large number of you, but at the moment it seems you're sticking around on the server for less time, this is just to update you about what we've got planned to make sure you know we're not just letting things slip away. Firstly I just want to remind you all that you can have your say on what we should be working on sooner by voting at https://www.noobscraft.com/work/. Over the last few months I have personally put an enormous amount of work into making a large number of the features you all requested, ready to be put into place, our plan is to make one massive update to the server later this year which is why it might seem like things have slowed down at the moment, but the work being put in definitely hasn't slowed! On to what we've got planned as part of this massive change though. These things aren't just what we're hoping to work on this year, but they will be all released this Summer (likely June or July) or certain parts before if we're ready to go with them early. Just to be clear , they will be released later this year, they're not here just yet. I know we've not been good with release dates previously, but these things will actually all be ready for release this Summer! Almost a year ago we announced that we'd be moving to our own system for Towns, and yes we finally will be this year. This Summer Noobstowny will actually be coming to Noobstown! The system itself is almost completely done, it's going to go into a private testing phase soon, but will definitely be ready for release this Summer! As explained when we first announced it, it is based heavily off the existing town system, if you've used Towny on Noobstown already you should have no problems with the new system, but there'll be a post explaining a few of the changes we've decided in a few weeks. We'd love your feedback on that to help shape it to be a system you want to use and enjoy, keep an eye out for that announcement. ( The Work item) This change will also allow us to support many of the great features which the Wilderness currently offers but because of the lack of protection the old town system didn't, look forward to that! For example Armour Stands ( The Work item). It has been over a year since Mojang began allowing you to change your Minecraft username, since then if you've changed your name after playing on Noobstown we've blocked your access. However this is likely to change this Summer! Over the last few weeks I've put into place a number of the last few steps to allow us to move to allowing you to keep playing on Noobstown if you've changed your name. This will hopefully be available at the same time as the release of Noobstowny. Again we will announce this beforehand, along with how exactly it will work ( don't update your name yet because your access will still be blocked for now), but this is definitely coming this Summer too! I know a number of you are waiting for this and we really appreciate your patience with that so you can keep playing Noobstown, but it will soon be possible, just a few more months to wait! ( The Work item) There have been a large number of Wilderness changes which have been requested and issues reported to me. A large number of these will be fixed too! Specifically we will definitely be introducing a free Wilderness chunk count command, so you can see how many free chunks you've got left to use up ( The Work item). Plus there will be a number of fixes to some small bugs which have been reported over the last few months. ( This Work item) - We'll finally be adding a Head Shop so you can buy everyday heads for decorative use around your builds! (This Work item)
- Sponges! We'll be allowing sponges to be used to soak up water like they normally should in Minecraft in all worlds! (This Work item)
- We'll finally get round to updating the VIP Shop to work similar to the new /shop option. (This Work item)
- We'll begin to allow slime blocks to be pushed/pulled by pistons within your land in both Towns and the Wilderness! This is something which will allow for some really cool redstone creations to be possible but also still be safe. (This Work item)
- As explained above we'll begin supporting armour stands in the Town world too! (This Work item)
- We'll actually get round to releasing some rewards for playing Snowball! (This Work item)
That should complete 10 work items from the list, including a few massive ones! There may be more too as we work things out more specifically. We're really excited about what is to come, and I appreciate that not much might be happening right now, but things really are coming very soon. There will continue to be monthly themes going forward, but we'll be stepping up our game with these again over the Summer too, especially with our new 'Content Creator' rank! We're a community which runs and survives for you guys, and we really appreciate that you've chosen to play here, and especially those of you who have stuck around while we've been a bit quieter. We're really planning to push ourselves forward to try and bring us back to a stage we used to be at over the next few months, so be excited for the things we've got to come! Thanks!

As part of our ongoing process to try and improve Noobstown we've decided to make a few adjustments and changes to some of the ranks on Noobstown that have remained reasonably constant for the last few years. The following changes will be coming to Noobstown in stages over the next few days/weeks. Firstly we're introducing a whole new rank of people who will assist the Admin team with the direct creation of Quests and themed items. These people will have the new [Content] prefix in-game and will be in light blue. They're still moderators too on top of that though. We'd also like to give a great welcome to the first member of the Content team: DadJaeger, he has already assisted us with consistent moderation for many years and with previous quests too, so we think it's a great role for him to move on to. Other players will likely get this role in the future too, but for now it's just him. We hope this new rank will allow us to bring you more and better Quests going forward with the ability for more than just myself and Foob directly creating them in-game, look forward to some of the improvements from this soon hopefully! It will not be possible to apply for this rank directly, it will be given to those who we believe are suitable to have it.Secondly we're going to be phasing out the 'Supporter' rank. This rank was created many years ago for those player's who donated for something other than VIP or when they're VIP ran out, it hasn't be possible to gain for many years now, gives you no extra perms and we think it's time to phase it out. As a thank-you though; all existing Supporters will be upgraded to Veteran for free, giving them all access to the perks of that rank. This change will be happening over the next few days. Next we're going to renaming the rare 'Architect' rank to be 'Builder', this rank was never publicly announced previously, however it's for those players who currently are or have previously contributed large builds to the public areas of the server, such as the spawns. They don't have any extra special abilities or permissions, it's just our way of saying thank-you. Again it isn't directly possible to apply for this, we will give it to those we believe deserve it and have actually contributed to the server builds. All other ranks will remain the same for now. As always we're still on the look out for people to join the ChatMod team, you can apply here. If you're considering this role now might be a good time to apply if you haven't yet *hints*.I hope you enjoy these changes, if you have any questions or useful constructive feedback on this please say in a reply below. We will be making a number of other changes to some things over the next coming weeks and months, along with long-awaited new Town System, hopefully you'll all enjoy the direction Noobstown is going in. - ItsLawrence

For those of you who weren't aware Noobstown has for sometime had a Web Inventory feature allowing you to store unlimited amounts of items away from the server for collection at any point. This is an update regarding that feature. When we launched Version 6 of Noobstown over 2 years ago now, we had plans to introduce a web marketplace for you to trade and buy items while not on the server, which is exactly what we did; the Web Auction. Since then we noticed that this plan wasn't working as we'd hoped so we scaled back this feature, moving to an in-game system ( /auction) as it allows you to quickly and easily trade items between players without the need to keep checking the site. This change meant the need for the existing web inventories we had became reduced, we then moved to plans to introduce a form of web-based trading so you could give other players items without being on the server once again (something we never released publicly though), however since then we've introduced popular features such as /gift and /trade which have greatly reduced the need for this feature on the site. It is therefore after a few years of this feature and its more recent lack of use, that I'm announcing the future closure and discontinuation of the Web Inventory. From early-mid July all items left in your Web Inventory will be deleted forever. We're giving you many months to collect things so don't worry too much though. What is happening to my items? There are currently 251,707 items awaiting collection in all of the Web Inventories together so be sure not to lose them and collect them from one of the many collection points on the server. Nothing has been lost yet so don't worry about that, everything has been moved to your collection inventory so all you need to do is visit a collection chest somewhere on the server and empty it! If you don't know where there is a collection point you can always use the one at /warp spawn. All physical deposit points on the server have now been removed, anything deposited beyond this point will be lost though. My town has a deposit/collection point, what do I have to do?Those towns which had a collection/deposit point for the Auction and then Web Inventory will still do at this time, all deposit points have been disabled, however your collection points will still work. If you want these removing please just contact me and I'll do it for you now. After the Web Inventory closes completely in July these will all be removed and all chest locks removed anyway though. How do I check what is in my Web Inventory? You can view the contents of your Web Inventory at Noobscraft.com/inventory, or from any of the Collection chests around the server. All items which were previously in the Ingoing inventory have been moved ready for immediate collection!
If you have any questions about this change please feel free to ask them, I just want to remind everyone again, nothing has been lost yet you'll still be able to collect things until July. - ItsLawrence
