I don't know Reginado. In March, when the V6 date was set for the end of summer, I put my guess in at the end of summer, Southern hemisphere. Granted, I didn't give a date, but the first day of fall in the southern hemisphere is March 20, so the last day of summer is March 19. I hope I'm really off with that.  :O

i saw the bukkit announcement i might give it a go :-) and have you seen minecraft 1.7.3 is out next week

:'( Dang it Mojang, stop putting out the updates so fast! Bukkit and Optifine haven't even updated yet...

perhaps that is their goal. to keep the bukkit and the optifine from being updated! (insert evil laugh here) lolz xD

Seriously, I hope that Mojang realizes they owe the success of Mincraft to plug-ins and plug-in systems like Bukkit. Minecraft would get dull fast if it weren't for the wide variety plug-ins available for players and server owners to use.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: New stat idea
« on: 5 Dec 2013, 17:49:42 »
This would be a cool stat to have.   8)

To help make the numbers meaningful, or useful, and more fun, the plugin could track kill/deaths/time ratio according to the world the player is in. This way, if I'm a great survivor but terrible Pvp my stats might look like:
Ctaftymatt13 survival stats:
Survival world:time in game: 25 days; deaths: 2; mob kills 200
Town world:Time in game: 5 days; 0 deaths
Nether:Time in Game: 10.25 days; 90 deaths; mob kills 1
PvP Matches 90; Players killed 90: Times killed 90:

Once the data is gathered in a data base, there is a crazy number of ways to display stats. These stats could be posted on the web page, and there could be an in game command to display the stats for any player or group of players, such as
/stats Darkwings  would give Darkwings stats
/stats mine would give the player's own stat
/stats all would list all online players
/stats local would list players in the local chat area
/stats whatever would show whatever

Minecraft already tracks a lot for the Achievements and stats, so some of the data may already be gathered making it easier to write this plugin. (Makes me want to learn Java programming  :D)

The stats could have two sets for each ratio. One set from the start of V6, and one for the past 30,60 whatever number of days.

There have been several posts expressing concern about the validity of these sort of stats and how players could manipulate there activities to boost their scores. I took a statistics class in college and only remember one lesson, one that wasn't formally taught- Statistics lie! 4 out of 5 statisticians agreed, and 2 out of 10 showed me statistics that proved me wrong.

Noobstown General / Speaking of lag...
« on: 4 Dec 2013, 20:05:38 »
I have had a terrible time with lag since the 1.7? release when playing other servers. Is anybody else having the same problems? I realize that Noobstown isn't here to help fix my problems with other servers, but given the delay, maybe I can get my computer running right for V6. My lag on other servers mirrored my lag on Noobstown V5.

If it's server issues due to the update (I think I saw somewhere that the server code had a major overhaul) then I guess I'll just have to wait for Mojang to fix it. My game will freeze at 0 FPS for 2-3 minutes at a time (rough in skywars type mini games) then return to 40-90 FPS.  The freezes aren't usually that bad, usually just a few seconds. I don't have any problems with single player or using this machine as a LAN host. I've played with the video settings in minecraft, but no change.

Computer specs: AMD Athlon II 4x800, 2G RAM,  NVIDIA Geforce 8500 Graphics card, Windows XP Mediacenter.  I know, almost out of date machine.

Looking at my description of the lag, it looks like the issue is with the servers, for the most part. Does this sound likely?

« on: 4 Dec 2013, 19:36:37 »
I'll admit it, I have been playing on other servers   :( , but I have not found one I like as well as Noobstown. I like the new stuff, but it doesn't save right (in single player). The colored glass, clay, etc aren't saving correctly. The severs I've tried are terrible with lag. See my post Speaking of Lag...

Pictures / Re: Skydoesminecraft Butter Warrior!
« on: 24 Nov 2013, 05:52:55 »
What's really funny/sad is that butter is a pale, off white color. It is margarine that is yellow, due to food color. There is not as much color as there used to be, but it is still yellow. It's colored yellow, like cheddar cheese is dyed orange. I think when margarine was introduced, it had to be colored so people knew it wasn't real butter. So really it should be Sky Does Margarine Warrior. <--- useless factoid

I know this one!

EXAMPLE:

Word/Phrase:  "Fixin'"
Meaning:  Getting ready to do something
Usage:  "I'm fixin' to leave to go to the park"

GO!

But it is different from :
Word: fixins
Meaning: sides (side dishes)
Usage: "I ready for the Thanksgiving turkey and all the fixins!"

my personal favorite
word: ya'll
meaning: all of you, you all,
usage: "ya'll come back, yu'hear?"

and I need to have:
word: yu'hear
meaning: Do you hear and comprehend me?
usage: "ya'll come back, yu'hear?"

and all together:  (the grand finale)
usage: Hey Ya'll! I'm fixin to  fix the fixins! Yu'hear?"
meaning: Hello everybody. I would like to let everybody know that I am preparing to commence the preparation of the side dishes for our evening meal. Would anybody care to assist me?

See, Southern is easy and quick!

« on: 19 Nov 2013, 04:21:43 »
Thanks Max. I missed that we were launching a probe to Mars. (I still remember watching the Voyager launches on TV). I'm glad there are people looking to the future.

how would they get air on mars....

Terraforming is one way.  We could send plants to Mars.  Carbon dioxide is a major component of the atmosphere there and plants convert CO2 to Oxygen.  I'm making it simpler than it really is and it would take a long, long time, but basically plants could make the air breathable for humans.

Max

Terra-forming is beyond our technology, for now, and certainly beyond our vision. The politicians ( who decide funding) can not see beyond the next election and will never fund something that the can not get re-election votes with. Terra-forming will be multigenerational.

Yeah, but what if they're hostile aliens with technology that greatly exceeds ours? Humans will be X/ (if you know what I mean)

If the aliens visit us, there technology will be way beyond ours!  :O We will just have to hope they are peaceful.

They will meet aliens and they will provide the technology. (I'm a alien, I'm on mars atm :B )

Do me a favor and make sure my build on the north slope of Mount Olympus doesn't get griefed. Thanks!  :D

This is some of what I have done during The Delay. It's an afghan I crocheted for my daughter.

Yes, I posted this in another topic, but I am proud of it! :)

Hi everyone.

With the down time I decided to finish the afghan blanket I was making for my daughter. Here's a picture:

I gave it to her the other night when we had our first hard freeze of the season. I'm pleased with it-it's my first blanket and it was given to my first child.  :)

Summer 2013, no exact date can be given at this time. There is lots to do!

Summer 2013? Would this be the Northern Hemisphere's summer or Southern Hemisphere's Summer? LOL  3:)

Northern of course!

Looks like I may have been closest at the beginning.  :/

Despite the delay in V6, I am sure that it will be awesome and worth the wait. My daughters and I have played on other servers and while they seemed great at first, they soon showed instability with crashes that wiped out everything and the server had to be reset. Two different servers were knocked out by griefers using TNT requiring a reset. After that, I understood why TNT is not usable on Noobstown. Other servers have poor moderators more interested in abusing their status than maintaining a good environment. I had a mod take a full set of highly enchanted diamond armor out of my chest and claim it as his own. It was 5 days before my report was acknowledged. I left that server, bad mods and an unconcerned owner! I like the frame work of rules, mods and active owners that Noobstown offers, and I am willing to wait.

All that being said- I WANT MY NV6 (Noobstown V6)<--said like the old "I want my MTV" ads, when MTV played actual music videos.

Ok, I went to do the snapshot and I received a warning about corrupting my worlds and I should do this in a separate directory. I thought by creating a new profile for snapshots, Minecraft would create a snapshot world and I could switch my profile back and forth as I wanted and play on a snapshot world or 1.6.4. Am I missing something or am I reading to much into the warning? Thanks.

V5 will end one day before my 1 year anniversary here, restart on about my birthday, and I'll be on vacation for the first 7 days of V6. Thanks for helping me celebrate these, Waterworth and Team!

Can not WAIT for V6!

Do you know what my biggest problem is with these awesome looking biomes is going to be? (Don't worry, it's a good problem  :D  ) I'm going to spend weeks exploring before I set  my first home plot and lay my first corner stone!

Looks fantastic!

Can hardly wait!

Come on V6!

Could fly be restricted to the players plot? This would be a useful/cool perk for VIPs when building, but wouldn't take away from the survival aspect of the rest of the server. I don't even know if this is technically possible, just throwing my .02 noobz in.
