As my past Oakvale members know of me, my house comes last when it comes to working on a town.  I lived in a dirt house for most of the time on the server, and then ohlookawall and minkz (i think?)  revamped my wilderness wooden house and turned it into an actual home.

I will probably make a place to sleep, but focus on the more important things, like the town hall. (i could live in my office as mayor maybe? lol  (lots of quartz which will be a good amount of time to collect haha)

So does this mean the /shop command wont work in v6, thats how i sold all my paper from my sugarcane farm. Second if we dont have the shop how will we get money INTO the economy besides killing animals, playing mini games, quests, and/or voting each day for the server.I know it sounds like a lot but I really dont think it would give you much money doing these things. Many of the options to gain money you need to still use money to use. For example selling items, players need to buy them which means they need money, or the casino, You'll most likely need money for that too.

From how I understand it, there will be no /buy or /sell on the server shop. The point is to NOT inflate the server's economy so V6 lasts longer. This will also help player to player trading and help prevent ridiculous buying and selling prices through the server.

Yeah, it sounds to me that there will be no server shop (/buy; /sell).  But the player trade auction will be in HUGE use, I'm sure of it.  Yeah, you might not get money right away, but if you price it right and work on being fair and gathering things that are in demand, then I'm sure you will do alright in making money.  Although unlike the old days of selling 1000's and 1000's of wheat and paper to the server shop, we'll have to find other ways of making money. Trust me though i get it, I used to have like 4 layers of wheat farms just for that purpose.

But it will work a lot more smoothly in the background, because we will be supplying people with items that they actually need and will work so much better than chest shop did in some ways.  I feel that will be a huge success.

Make sure to invite me to do some fishing, Aqw! I will work on making a dock of some sort so we have lots of places to fish in a group like in v5 :)

1. play on the server all day every day that i dont have school
2. build awesome underground house
3. train swords
4. find diamonds and train repair skill so i dont have to ask people to repair my diamond stuff for me, like i did in V5.
5. try not to be offline for 1-3 months(or however long i was gone) and miss everything.

that's a good idea.... I should train repair skill as well. :)

The hard part is most mini games require plugins and with that, more power is needed. So who knows, I'd be happy either way but this would be a good place to come if they need ideas or whatever.  If not, I'm just interested in what other people like.

I also like hunger/survival games in general. Even with friends or something

33
Yeah that's what it said in his post. It'll be implemented before server release.

34
I'm sure they would if they had time. Remember, this is a hobby they do in there free time around work, family, relationships and school.

35
Of course.   This is strictly for fun and to see what people like on the server or what people would like to see implemented into Noobstown.

36
As I'm sure everybody is excited just like I am for the release, people have been getting ready and preparing for it in just a few days.  But as I've been pondering around the forums trying to gather all of the information about V6, nowhere seems to tell us what mini games will be in the upcoming release (the ones that are automatically done 24/7 I'm assuming).

So regardless what will actually be in the game, what would YOU guys like to see put in the game when it comes to mini games?

I'll start it off with two words..... TURF WARS.

Now it's your turn.  Enjoy :)

Market Place / Re: Empire Trading and Manufacturing Co
« on: 29 Jan 2014, 20:47:17 »
I honestly think planning out your business and town is a great idea.  If you have enough help on a town, you can easily run more than one thing at once.  And then, if you think you want to only focus on your nation and step down from power to only run the nation and the business, then let the person that helped you the most focus on being Mayor while you are assistant mayor..... There are many ways to make it work, it just takes the right planning with the right people, some dedication, and some focus.

On another subject, it is a bit frustrating to plan something that you aren't sure if it will work out the way it shows on paper.  One of my biggest issues right now while planning is how the online bidding will work. I'm not sure if it will be 100 percent successful, or if it will be used by half of the people and the other half not.  It's really hard to know if you put up a shop, that it will be abandoned and not touch due to the new auction shop.   I had that problem in V5, where I based my town solely around it having the market right in front of the town, and i wanted it to be the main place to shop. It was....for about 2 weeks until they released the plots at the Server Spawn, which killed it.  But that's the whole thing, you can't plan for changes and you can't see ahead to see how the economy will work out.

I wish you luck on your project, and it seems you've matured quite a bit from the first time I met you (don't take that offensive haha)

And just a heads up for your business if i decide to basically contract with you guys (since I will need a lot of it coming in for my town), I will need need probably around 50 book and quill to start off with, and lots and lots and lots of redbrick (stone form). It'll depend on how things pan out though, just thought I'd throw it out there. :)

4.  Do something large and not necessary - I will try and attempt to make the largest tree on the server. That is, if I don't fall to my death first....

Reminds me of nole's jungle tree plot!

Exactly, although i'll try to make it the center of town, and not really the tallest, but the largest. Like a God Tree with more detail.. Although i LOVED his tree and i love it went to sky limit haha.  Good times in Oakvale.....

And You are very welcome to to come to the new Oakvale I'm wanting to build, and if not we can always work on other projects together outside of town :)

Server Announcements / Re: Important Veteran Information
« on: 28 Jan 2014, 17:53:57 »
If only someone could give me their extra veteran rank. Might possibly allow them a TA position in the new town i make. (Gallifrey 2.0 anyone?)

I'm just giving my opinion on it, but making a deal to have somebody give you veteran doesn't seem fair. I don't think it should be an item to trade for power. It should be given as a gift because they feel that person earned it or are good friends and a positive person to the Noobstown community, etc etc.....

If this happens, other people MIGHT get upset, and it will just cause more problems in the future.

Noobstown General / What are YOUR noobstown v6 Goals? (Top 5)
« on: 27 Jan 2014, 08:17:25 »
Here is a topic that came up as an idea recently, as I'm sure everyone is just as excited as I am about V6 being released in just a few days.

But I got to thinking, and with everything that V6 has going for it, people might think it is overwhelming at first.  So why not think for a minute or two, and share/discuss with everybody what your top 5 goals are that you would like to achieve in v6 of Noobstown? Setting goals and discussing with the community can be a great way to get involved, and get ideas on where to start when you first step into the new minecraft world. Direction is nice to have, especially if you get distracted as easily as I do.

*Please don't make fun of other peoples goals on this forum post, we are all friends here and we want a nice start to the new version, so try to keep it friendly :)*

I'll start off, here are my top 5 (in no particular order):

1.  Rebuild Oakvale -  I once made a city back in the day, where Oakvale thrived and the community was like family.  I want us to remake it, and bring back the community we once had.  GO OAKVALIANS!

2.  Build a monument - It will be remembered on the server for newcomers, veterans, and staff.  People will gaze in awe of it's beauty.

#probablywonthappen

3.  Become a part of the noobstown team - I love this server, and it's one of the biggest reasons why I love minecraft so much.  I SALUTE TO YOU NOOBSTOWN V6

4.  Do something large and not necessary - I will try and attempt to make the largest tree on the server. That is, if I don't fall to my death first....
#justletmehavethisoneplease

5.  Redstone - I will attempt to try and actually figure out how the new redstone pieces work from the redstone update, since I still haven't made time to practice on it!  Anyone willing to teach? ;)

Now please, if you want to attach pictures of your goals or whatever that relates to your post, feel free to do so. Again this is just for fun.

Server Announcements / Re: 6.0 Preparation
« on: 18 Oct 2013, 07:36:40 »
You guys' must try to understand that, at least to my knowledge, they are making custom made plugins for this server which is chunky.  That means that they are building a modification of there own, which can't be easy for such a small staff team.  Along with every little detail to keeping the server running like stability testing, basic functionality, hiring a new moderation team, timing of when the veterans will get to start playing with advanced notice, planning for the release with constant forum q & a, communication with the other staff, and on top of everything else, their normal lives.

It should be here soon, and when it does get here, it will be one amazing version of Noobscraft.  So just try to understand guys. See you Noobz on V6. :)

Why do you want to be a Prefect?:

After being on the server for more than a year and then just getting back from an internship in real life, where I had no time on my hands, I feel now I can dedicate myself to be on the staff team. I've seen other moderators deal with issues many times and understand it might not all be fun and games. But i found it's worth it, because after dealing with people in town fighting with each other or normal things like griefing, cussing in town, I found out why I love this server so much; it's because of the community. Because when there was a problem, we all came together as one and fixed a situation with our best intentions, and I love when I can help a community and make even a little bit of peace.  Me and my staff in Oakvale did a great job fixing problems with the help of the moderators in V5, and I would like to be given the chance to show my worthiness now as part of the prefect team and to help this amazing server thrive once more in V6.

WHY?: I've never enjoyed anything in Minecraft more than creating and making my town Oakvale with my assistants and town members. I loved how we were like a tight knit community and would like to remake Oakvale again in V6. The reason I gave it up was because I was on a 7 month internship and couldn't dedicate time to the town.

EXPERIENCE: I started out being a TA in Winterhold about a year and a half ago.  I created Oakvale and was mayor for about 8 months then after giving up the town, I became sub mayor.

TIME: I just now got internet back after moving into my new place, so I for sure have access to internet.   Since my internship is over with and I have a place with internet, I for sure will have time to play most nights.

PLAN: I want to build Oakvale again, but better this time. Plans I never got to in the old Oakvale will go into affect this time, and I will finish the Mountain of Noobs, once and for all.

Agreement

I (fish_james) accept the liability of the role and all of the citizens in my town.

Hello fellow noobs,

I just wanted to let the admins and everybody know that this is probably the most motivating thing that has happened for around 6 months for me for minecraft in general.  I've been away at an internship for nearly 7 months now at Disney World and I'm finishing in 1 month!  I've been too busy to play any games, but as my internship comes to an end, Noobstown V6 will be just beginning! I hope I will bring back my once beloved town Oakvale, and rise up and prosper one more time.  Glad to be excited and ready to join the action and most of all, creativity once again. I will see you guys soon!

Thank you,

I agree it would have a better chance going in the VIP shop. But twistedlover, I'm pretty sure minerman had a typo, he meant to say you can't silktouch snow plates.

I understand the free stuff but yes, I agree I should have been safe there. Even though I was getting free stuff, the hour I was playing I could have been mining, but I wasn't because I didn't expect this to happen.  When mining I am WAY more cautious and have armor, etc, because that is obviously dangerous. This isn't.  But I guess that doesn't mean anything, it's not a big deal I suppose. :/

I had the same thing.  This is a copy/paste from what I posted on the livestream forum:

''At the Christmas party, I was killed by a pigmen that was spawned in a 'safe zone' and lost 34 diamond ore, and 31 diamonds, along with a lot of other stuff.  I'm a little upset, if a mod or admin could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.''

Now with that said, I just wanted to say that I feel compensation is fair in this case because I felt that the event was safe like spawn and towns are safe.  I assumed that mobs were turned off, but they weren't. Sorry for your time.

Thanks,

Fish_James
