Meet the Wild World
« on: 14 Jan 2014, 21:11:22 »

Hey guys,

After hours upon hours of uploading, the wild world is finally ready for preview! ~ The current world is being rendered on the live map. I've set the default load map to the Wilderness, if you want to check the 'Town' world again, simply open the menu on the right of the map and select 'world'.

Again, feel free to look around and pick your spot!

http://www.noobscraft.com/map/ <- Click the link to see our Wild world. Some elements may be currently rendering, the 3d viewing functions will take longer to update. 3D elements can be viewed on the right hand menu

What is the wild world?

The Wilderness world is an area for all players on the server to live privately or with a close knit group of friends, the world is completely ran on our brand new chunk based protection system 'Chunky' which allows for personal chunk by chunk protection.

The Wilderness world was designed to be feature rich, full of imagination and incredible scenery. We wanted every small area and each small detail to be personal to the player that lives there. Every single corner you turn you will find something new, exciting and inspiring. We've jam packed the entire world with crazy, funky and fun biomes and we cannot wait for you all to begin your journey out into the wild.

Time to start planning your personal home, because we're planning ours!

Noobscraft Team,

So far I found 7 (just like the town world) and just like the town world, there is one to the north, one to the south, and five in a cluster directly to the east.

Amazing world, keep up the good work! Can't wait for V6 to be up!

It's about 19 chunks wide
pi r ^2 = ~283 chunks in area

and that's just the lava

Oh dear god...I want it as my home...but neb and I need to agree on a place, and that might be a little too big for us... :P Neb, find somewhere you like, and we can start narrowing down our options. There's an volcano island to the west some.

I like that one too. It seems like one that is active and recently erupted since it's almost all stone. A perfect place to construct a secret laboratory full of death and destruction! Oh, and your planes. :P

So with 2 updates in the past week, does this mean that we're getting closer to the launch?

I mean....*cough cough*

Any idea on approximate launch?

This was the last info about launch I remember:
... However, we have quite a large break which will roughly last until the 20-29th of January which we plan to slot the release sometime during the 2nd-29th. Unfortunately, I cannot give a specific date but use that as a rough estimate. When we feel it is appropriate to restart the launch clock we will do so. ...

Is the map currently offline or is my internet sabotaging me again (town map worked fine for me yesterday, not today though)?

Well, as I said in the Town Auction application thread, since it's already Jan-15th now it seems legit to ask about a release date.
It doesn't make sense to still have no date when there are 2 weeks left to reach the Jan-29th mark.

PS: the url seems to be unreachable (maybe overloaded).

Well, it would make sense when the upload of the maps on the site (and probably the upload on the server as well) are part of the last tests and preparations that will determine if and how much there still needs to be done (bugfixing etc.). These might be the final preparations and if they are successfull we might get a rather short countdown. And a shorter but safer countdown would probably be a wiser move than a longer but not that certain countdown (that could pe stopped/postponed by suddenly occuring bugs in the final preparations).

In short, they might just want to be on the safe side this time and rather make sure everything runs fine instead of risking another long countdown that might get stopped by problems.

I didn't mean that they have to start the countdown right now, but that they should simply say "yes, we are sure that the release will be in 2 weeks unless major bad stuff, over which we have no control, happens", because at the moment we don't have even that.
